the 3ds has around a 700mhz processor and a great graphics card...meaning i simple n64 emulator can be coded very easily....so wouldnt it be great if Nintendo released a n64 emulator for the 3DS? like every now and then they could release n64 games like mario 64 but they wont be remastered in 3D just the same game being played on a emulator?

what do you guys think of this idea? this way we get more content and nintendo gets more money!

Wouldn't this count as piracy? Nintendo would never do such a thing. They could have Nintendo 64 on Virtual Console, but there isn't a second analog stick to support the yellow triangle buttons.
Also IIRC the 3DS processor is a dual core clocked around 1.2GHz.

they could use the touchscreen, and it woulnt count as piracy if nintendo sell the games on eShop as virtual console...

Then what's the point of an emulator on it

    Piracy?? Its their own games??
Anyway perhaps a line of "3D Classicss"/n64 would work, Im guessing Ninty will port the current crop of Wii digital goodies to Wii-U aso.

An emulator is used to play ROMs. Then you would download the ROMs illegally and put them on your 3DS to play on the emulator, so that's piracy.

Considering Nintendo's stance on piracy (and the fact that they've worked tremendously hard to prevent this exact kind of emulation from occurring on the 3DS), I know for a fact that an official emulator will never be released. Why create an emulator when you can just create games and sell them for money? It kind of defeats the purpose.

All Virtual Console games use an emulator. For example, on the Wii, when you download a Nintendo 64 game, you are pretty much downloading an emulator and a ROM, but the emulator was coded to specifically run whatever game you downloaded.

I think that this would be possible if Nintendo wanted to do it, but I don't think they will. There's already been one remake of an n64 game on the 3DS, and there's another one on the way next month. I think that n64 games will only appear on the 3DS if Nintendo choose to remake them.

I would really enjoy the idea of having different n64 games in 3D.

It will come out for a flash cartridge at some point, but not legitimately, not when Nintendo could make money off of people.

And then there would be a bunch of people complaining when Nintendo brick their systems

lol...you really bought into that 'bricking your system' thing, well that's not to say that it won't or couldn't happen, but comming from a guy who's done his research, it's not happening to me or anyone else anytime soon, that's for sure, these flash cart designers are very aware of what the risks are, so they're not stupid, they will get stuff right, and so far have proven themselves of this.

If you don't want unlimited free games, well then you have a conscience, which I applaud you for having, but your gonna miss out, a LOT.

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get the homebrew channel again!

I know, but game developers (excluding a few lazy arses that just give us shuvleware) have gone through a lot of hard work creating games so the least I can give them is paying full price for their games

the dpad could suffice but then again the dpad for the n64 wasn't all too useful.

The controls wouldn't work- there's no secind analogue pad to act as the C-pad and only 2 shoulder buttons

Yet there's an entire touch screen that can make up for any button, not that it will be the most comfortable thing in the world, but people underesitimate the touch screen.

Even though there's Oot 3d, lets use original Oot to explain why touchscreen C-pad would suck. Hold L/Z + a C equip item to move while aiming the Bow/ hookshot or whatever, right? Now do it with the touch screen C-pad. REALLY hard.
