http://www.3dsbuzz.com/mature-content-in-videogames-have-we-gone-too-far/ So, what do you think? With early poll results, it looks like an impressive majority think that both violence and sexual content in games have gone too far, but do you agree? Make sure to vote in the poll too!
I think the way the parents are too lenient on the younger kids on what they watch/play has gone too far, not necessarily the games. I mean, in my opinion, yes, a lot of movies and games go too far. Every generation just gets worse. But really, it's controllable, if the parents would just buck up and actually be parents, helping raise kids that will become good members of society.
I wasn't being entirely serious when I posted that but I do feel mature content can go a little further than it does right now; just not a whole lot really. I think in terms of violence it can't really get much worse than what we already see in some games, though it could become more widespread; which I don't have a problem with unless it is overly used. As for sexual content I think they can go a bit further than they do, well at least over here in the West; Japan gets all the good stuff.
Definitely gone too far! Even the employees have gotten tired of making FPS because how often they're making one after another. http://mynintendonews.com/2012/05/1...ontinue-to-make-shooters-over-and-over-again/ I don't like FPS. I just like to play classic video game genres such as platformers, JRPGs, horror games (Silent Hill 1-3 for example), SMUP, Nintendo sports (Mario Kart and Mario Tennis) and fighting games (1-vs-1 and SSB style). Though I like Goldeneye 007 on the . But other FPS games than that... nah.
I think you should have to be a certain age to be able to play those kinds of games; the store clerk asking if you're 18 clearly isn't enough. Is the content going too far? Uh, yeah! There was a trailer at E3 for WiiU (I think it was Ninja Gaiden 3 or something) and I swear all I saw was blood splattering everywhere. FPS games are definitely... done with. I mean, once every once in a while is fun, but it just gets old after a 5th and 6th installment.
I don't think so, adding violence/sexual conent in some games can help deepen the story. If you don't like that sorta stuff don't buy it , thats what ratings are for. Parents, they'll buy their 10 year old the new Call of Duty which quite obviously not suitable, then complain that it's not suitable. Wtf?
Good idea, take the blood out of Ninja Gaiden that will make it so much more realistic. Katanas don't really make people bleed... Some overly violent games can be a lot of fun and that violence is a big part of that fun.
I think that if parents but the game and then say, "Oh this game is inapropriate (Sorry, I can't remember how to spell that one word.) for my kid." Then they shouldn't have bought it in the first place. They should've checked the content first. Some people just wanna complain. And about if they've gone too far, I don't know. But probably, they could go a little farther.
I'm not saying take the blood out of it, I'm asking, 'Why make that kind of game in the first place?' I honestly don't think harming people is that fun a pastime.
I like the way some developers will let you choose if you want blood scenes or bad language left on or turned off in their games. All games should be made to give you that option.
Killing characters in a game isn't harming anyone. The majority of games tend to have fighting or violence of some form in them, you probably play some of these games yourself; maybe not though but a lot of people tend to. Video games make things that you wouldn't necessarily do in reality enjoyable. Some games will just simply have shooting which the enjoyment is, a lot of the time, achieved by the testing of skill but other games will display levels of violence for realism and to set an appropriate tone for the game. Here in Australia they censored L4D2 removing all blood and dismemberment as well as making dead bodies disappear as soon as they are killed. Fortunately I was able to acquire an uncensored version of the game but if I had to play that censored version I know I wouldn't enjoy it as much; a zombie game without violence is like a burger with no bun. You say 'harming people' isn't a fun pastime when a lot of the time in games you are harming things that aren't human like aliens, monsters or zombies. There is something satisfying about sawing your enemies in half in Gears of War, am I harming a person? No, I am killing an enemy that is trying to kill me.
I get what you're trying to say. I'm perfectly fine with games that have you killing zombies, monsters, etc., but something about killing actual people in a video game just rubs me the wrong way...
Do you not play any games in which you kill people? Is it really that different killing people or monsters in a game? In the end they're all fictional.
What i think is classed as mature content if a game has anything to do with gore/blood, anything that suggests sexual interaction or porn.
Nah, I'm not a fan. In my opinion... yeah. Yes, they're fictional, but just the idea of killing people doesn't seem right...
