When I played Xenoblade chronicles for the first time, I remember I kept thinking that I hoed this game wasn't the average, cliched JRPG. (The british accents in the voice acting actual made the game seem different and I really like that). But even with the british accents, I wasn't sure if buying this game was the best idea. Not that the beginning was bad. It was good, but I just wasn't sucked in yet. And then This scene happens, and suddenly I couldn't stop playing. It was one of the most powerful, amazing and moving death scenes I have ever seen.
Ooh, do I have some sad ones. FFIV DS Palom and Porom. Though they technically didn't die, they tuned themselves to stone to save Cecil and his crew [/spoilers] Final Fantasy IV DS Yang. Once again, not technically death, but it is implied. He sacrificed himself for the sake of others.
I know the same thing happened with me as well. I was actually thinking of not taking the game seriously intill that scene, The game sky rocketed from there. The developers were smart, the moment I saw her die I even wanted revenge. Because when I play video games I hate when my party members die. (well everybody does ) Then after that cutscene many other friends were put in danger and the game really did give you a feeling that I need to change the future, I'm not going to lose another friend.
People talking about the Luma's Death in Super Mario Galaxy reminded me of another one that really hit me. Super Mario Galaxy Rosalina's Mother's Death. This one actually made me cry. All throughout the game you hear more of Rosalina's Story, and although it is never showed it is implied her mother died while she was gone. This is the one thing Super Mario Galaxy 2 couldn't beat in the first game. The touching story. Also just wanted to add something Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater After finishing the game once and finding out what The Bosses true means for defecting was, it was sorta sad. But what really effected me was when I replayed the final fight again after knowing what was going on. It was The Boss vs. the person she not only trained but thought of as a son, after her own son was taken away from her by the Philosphers. Hideo Kojima just did an amazing job of showing that relationship in the final boss battle. It makes you also hate Volgin with a passion for being the reason Snake had to kill her. It was also touching to see her ghost meeting up with the Sorrow right after her horse came.(You only see it if you hold R)
