What classes are you taking at school this year? What I'm taking: Algebra II Physics honors (oh dear lord, if I didn't do chemistry well just think of how i'll do with physics) Writing and Composition AP U.S history AP Jazz Band Photography I Health Newspaper
Well this is my last year before GCSEs begin, so I can't drop any subjects yet (Bye Bye Geography!). Everything is pretty much standard, apart from maybe Latin. Here's my list: English Maths Chemistry Physics Biology Religious Studies French History Geography Latin Rugby/Cricket Enhanced Studies (ICT, Studies) Creative Arts (Music/DT/Art/Drama) Physical Education Extra-curricular: Concert Band Debating Philosophy Cricket (I'm the team captain) Fencing Classical Studies Various other stuff
History High School Band.. I CANT CHOOSE JAZZ BAND! *rage* Environmental Science College prep English PE French 2 Health Study Hall ^^^ Seriously. It's a class. Extra Curricular TBD Possibly football....yes, i mean soccer.
We have something like that in our Enhanced Studies. Our teacher made the mistake of letting us listen to music, so not a lot of studies get done
Hm. These are supposedly the classes I'm taking if everything goes to plan, although I may want to switch a few around seeing as I accidentally signed up for them. - Honors Algebra II - Honors World History - Honors English 10 - Honors Chemistry - Spanish II - Intro to Business - Human Development - Yearbook I'm interested in all of the above except Human Development. I accidentally thought Human Development was a psychology class instead of a parenting class when I signed up for it, so now I fear I may be forced into taking care of little children for half the school year. Considering how much I detest babysitting, it likely won't go well.
Our school lets us do a lot of things We also have longer school days than most schools, meaning we do more stuff. Our day is from 8:30am-4:30pm (Or 5:40pm if you do extra curricular stuff, which I have to do every night).
Sociology And two gym classes. (Just for the credits) And the rest of my stuff is advance, but I won't tell you what they are because it'll give away my age.
I didin't realize you were a fencer. I'm jealous that your school actually has a fencing team. I have to do it outside of school. Have you fenced before? If so, what do you typically fence? I usually just stick with epee, but sometimes I fence foil. I'm also jealous you have a philosophy class. Are you going to be on the debate team as well? I hated Chemistry to death. Even though I did well in the class, I just hated the way the teacher explained things. World History is a pretty fun class. I thought it was better than geography, that's for sure.

I have fenced before, I've been doing it for two years now. I'm not great, but it's fun I've been to a few competitions, and went as part of the team to a competition in London, where we stayed for three days. It was a competition between the fencing private schools in our country. It was an amazing experience At the minute I'm just fencing foil, next school year I should be trying out Epee, which I feel is better suited for my game. The sad thing about the philosophy class is it's 99% certain to be cut for budget reasons. It's really a shame, it was an amazing class. Thankfully we now have our own private forum to continue the class, though it won't be the same We're only going to be assembling our junior debate team in the coming year, but I assume I'll be in it (Not trying to sound cocky) The sad thing with my school is that not a lot of people take full advantage of everything that's offered. In my report, my teachers noted how I am successful in a lot of fields. I'm top of my year, I play two instruments at a fairly high level, I'm a sports captain etc. I think the opportunities my school has given me has enabled me to do well. I'm saddened that most don't try to use the things available. I'm sorry if it looks like I'm boasting, I'm not.
It's unfortunate that some of your classes are being cut. So, does your debate also do speech events? (prose poetry, duet, duo, oratory, ect.) or is just like Lincoln Duglas and Public forum debate? What instruments do you play? I've been fencing for about 4 years now, I and think you will really like the switch from foil to epee. Most people are actually epee fencers. Less rules, I suppose. Unfortunately my competitive speech and debate class did not make it as a class. It's still competing as a club, but it would be nice to have it as a class...
I'm taking the exact same things, we must be in the same grade . Except for the last three...(and I'm doing Physics Honors instead of Chemistry, although Chemistry is a branch of Physics, I think). And I'm also doing Band, Independent Studies, and probably something else that I'm forgetting.
Chemistry and physics are two separate things, with chemistry dealing with the molecular properties of elements, while physics explains more natural phenomenons--at least that's my understanding. At my school we do chemistry before physics, but at your school you probably do the opposite. Still, it's nice to know there's another honors student on the forums. Although to be honest, I'm pretty sure a lot of people here are honors students. Or at least possess above-average intelligence, at any rate.
I don't know if we do the opposite. For us 8th and 9th grade are separated, so I'll be in a different school after I take Physics. Yeah, most schools only have Math and English Honors where I live so I'm lucky to be in one of the three middle schools that have everything Honors .
AP Statistics (considering I just took AP Calc BC, this should be a breeze) AP Computer Science A (looking forward to this one) Spanish 3 (or was it 4) English... 6? (I'm not kidding. Just a lot of English courses.) I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have economics Da** P.E. And, I've got college apps.
Wait, you're in 8th grade? I'm in 10th grade. Talk about a discrepancy. Also, you better be in 12th grade, Zok, because that's when I'll be taking those classes. Otherwise I'm going to start feeling quite dumb....
I wish I had the patience to teach peers. Whenever I try to explain something to someone who isn't in honors and they don't get it, I just loose all patience and tell them its too complicated...
