Hi guys, Slightly narrow topic here but I thought it would be a fun little debate; whats the deal with all the hate about the Water Temple in Zelda: Ocarina of Time? I hear a lot of talk about this dungeon and I personally don't get all the animosity so I'd love to hear peoples experiences and opinions about this ever so controversial dungeon. What did you like? What did you hate? and was it really that inconvenient to change boots? Discuss!
I actually found it very fun and interesting, and I didn't have any problems with the iron boot. I don't get why most people ehate the water temple LOL.
I haven't made it that far into OoT yet, but I've heard both sides of the argument before. Some say it's "cheaply" designed, more to annoy you than to really let you have fun like you're supposed to. Others say it's simply one of the most challenging temples ever created for a Zelda game, and that it's only for those who are really willing to stretch their puzzle-solving limits. As I've never seen the temple myself, I can't stand for either of the two sides, but in any case, I hope people stop complaining about it every single time something gets written anywhere about OoT's 3D remake!
hear, hear I also wish more to be said about the remake than just the "apology" for the Water Temple Saying that, it would be nice to hear from someone with serious anger towards the Temple as well here.
I found it very annoying as you had to keep pausing and putting the boots on and then if you messed you had to keep doing that. However other than that OoT was a great game so don't let the water temple put you off Zelda games as that is one of Nintendos few regrets for that game The water temple is a temple in The legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and people hated it because it was so akward as you had to keep pausing to equip the iron boots to make you sink in the water to continue and there were only certain items that you could use and if you made a mistake you had to pause, take off the boots, float to the top go back to were you were at then equip the iron boots again and try that part again
@Dannyboy: You can edit your post and don't need to double post. Back on Topic: I hope that people don't hate, but also don't like it, because then it would be nice to hear their opinions or even hear an argument about it between them.
Me too, thats the whole idea of this thread really. I think the key question really is how much needs to be changed if anything and ofcourse what changes would they be? My personal opinion is that nothing needs to change, there is a very real threat that this issue might cause ninty to overfix the problem, sure the equipment selection submenu wasnt the most easy thing to use but I'd rather have that stay then the game be too gutted due to one issue in one dungeon. Thoughts?
I voted "Loved it"! I can see why people don't like it, but it's my favorite part of the whole game, especially the Dark Link battle! I usually refrain from using walkthroughs, I usually give it 2-3 days, 5 days at max, though.
I never played LoZ: OoT, but I have LoZ: Collector's Edition. My main gripe about the series is that you can't save. I've heard about the Water Temple problem. Maybe a more streamlined inventory selection might alleviate the problem?
You can't save on "Collector's Edition"? You can on the regular: just press B on the start menu and it will come up with the option to save or not.
I know one of the games couldn't save; the game lasted 3 in-game days and then restarted. Which one was that?
Oh, Majora's Mask! You could save on it, but you couldn't, um. . . save? I know what you're talking about, how you couldn't save your items, but if you saved a giant, when the days restarted, they were still saved. Ahh, forget it; if I tried to explain it, I would just confuse people!
Yeah; when I looked at the manual it said the game lasts 3 days then it restarts, and I though: "what does that mean?"
Im on a certain part of the Water Temple where all I have to do is meet the clone Link, but for some reason im finding it impossible to get there again. Even though I setup a easy route to return against him again. I just gave up, but I will probably try again when I get Orcarina for the 3ds.
You should check this walkthrough out if you are still trying to beat it (there is still a LOOOONG time until the 3DS comes out)!
