Hey folks, A brand new trailer for the Wii U Exclusive, ZombiU, was recently released. This time it shows you some cool techniques using the GamePad as well as survival in a really creepy Nursery. Prepare to crap your pants (maybe) and enjoy ^_^ Ciao Leon
Yup say this yesterday, this game is getting better by the minute. The zombie atmosphere in this game is so amazing. Ubisoft is doing an amazing job on this game.
The name "ZombiU" (in my opinion) is stupid. It makes it sound babyish. But then I watched gameplay, the nursery trailer, and the Buckingham palace trailer, and I was floored with awesomeness.
I find this game less scary. To be honest, the creepy thing about Revelations is how "mutated" the zombies are. And the cruise ship is a scary place for the story to unfold.
I didn't find either of the trailers particularly interesting. The Nursery trailer was primarily jump scares, and not even particularly good jump scares (and why aren't there zombie babies?). The Buckingham Palace trailer was a bit better, but not by much.
I did find that odd, to be honest. You're right in saying that there was a lot of jump scares. One thing that the trailer lacked was the psychological factor (shadows, more blood splatters, little sounds to creep you out). Instead, there was a zombie jumping out of a closet. And to be honest, I'm not sure why there weren't zombie babies except maybe that was going too far for a trailer.
I'm pretty sure Zombie babies is just too far for Nintendo... Would you shoot a baby? Undead or otherwise?
Precisely. One thing I find annoying about the horror genre is the over-reliance on "scaring" the player, rather than legitimately causing them to fear. The two are similar in nature, but psychologically two completely phenomenon, with the latter being much harder to achieve than the former. Anyone can temporarily alarm or "scare" a player. On the other hand, it's much more difficult to cause permanent unease and anxiety or "fear". I was just disappointed the trailer went the former route, rather than the latter. Still, the game looks to be of high quality, which I suppose is of a higher priority to the developers considering ZombiU isn't specifically a horror game. And as to zombie babies, admittedly they'd probably be a bit too much, but it'd still be awesome to have undead infants jumping out at you nonetheless. Not to cause controversy, but I see no reason why one wouldn't "kill" an undead infact. A baby zombie is no different than an adult zombie; they're still controlled by the same virus, only manifested in different physical forms. Since the infant can no longer feel nor understand anything, I see no harm in shooting it.
Well, that makes rational sense, but arguments are too often won by emotions. And there might be people offended by shooting a baby, if not the gore alone in this game.
Babies are characterized as the most innocent form of a human. The fact that it would become zombie-fied alone would most likely sicken the player. People don't usually think about facts while they're playing video games, and especially in this genre, are very immersed into the game, so emotions can take hold. And so I agree with Zok. Although, zombie infants would REALLY set this game apart from the competition.
Yeah, I don't ever really find the monsters scary, just the setting of the story changes it all. In resi, I walked super slowly because I didn't want a monster to just drop out of nowhere. Even after I beat the game, when I started playing through again, still creepy! The nursery trailer also creeped me out, your just walking through a nursery, and you see dead bodies and blood, suddenly the closet break open and boom, a zombie. If they make baby zombies, I'm officially going to die playing this game. I love how scary it is and thats why I play them but..yep..the setting is everything. And the thing I like about zombiu is that when you die, you become zombified too. I can not wait for this game!!!
I'm offically PSYCHED for this game and it is most definitely a day one purchase for me! Although I already saw the nursery part with the crazed zombie babysitter in IGN gameplay footage, when she jumps up and screams in your face it still gets me every time! >XD When it eventually comes out, I plan to see if I can go the whole game without losing a single life! 8D
It looks very cool and I'm definetely going to get this game 100% sure however the graphics don't look so great to me.
Graphics aren't everything, and remember it's always watered down in trailers because amazingly enough not everyone has high def computers
Not only that but how are the graphics even bad. The zombies look crazy, crazier then any Cod zombies. Also this is Ubisoft they work very hard on graphics *cough* *cough* Assassin's Creed
I thought the graphics were good. To me it looks better than the 360 and PS3, even though it's scaled down. The lighting and window detail was pretty nice, and I think it'll look even better when played on an HDTV.
Dead Space creates that perfect atmosphere for fear since you are constantly on edge about what is around a corner and what not. You do shoot a lot of different types of "zombies" including babies and children. Also the fact of the background story and what goes on makes it more freaky. (Ex: There is a religion in the game that most characters believe in and it involves dying and becoming one being, but it goes further as most go insane and kill.) This game also reminds me of Left 4 Dead just without extra players, not as many zombies, and no mutated ones. It looks pretty darn scary since your mostly in the dark, alone, and there is damage everywhere. I like the fact you cant pause it to change around inventory and stuff, makes the game more on edge and realistic. Graphics are good, but I want to see more of someone actually playing it to see how they do the controls and such.
