Beyond The Labyrinth Battle Video, GO!
Take a look at the beasties and baddies you’ll be facing down in Konami and Tri-Ace’s upcoming 3DS RPG.
We recently took a look at some of Japan’s upcoming special edition content for the sumptuous-looking Tri-Ace RPG Beyond The Labyrinth.
So far however, not much has been revealed about the game other than the fact that it involves a very enigmatic wispy sort of girl and lots of gorgeous environments. Tri-Ace RPGs are known for their unique battle systems, however, and so it’s fantastic to see Cubed3 report that a video has been released showing off the game’s battle mechanics.
There’s special effects aplenty as strange, angular creatures garlanded in glowing marks arise from all sorts of secret monster-ish places with ill intentions towards yourself and your companion, who you’ve probably noticed enjoys casually breaking the fourth wall by talking to the player directly. As things devolve into violence with the foul beasts on display, your oh-so-innocent lady-friend gets stuck in with some flinging of pretty lights. Likewise for the player, it would seem your main methods of attack involve hurling colourful blasts of magic about the place.

It's a kind of magic... well, three types actually.
As any RPG stalwart can guess, the above image taken from the video suggests that the three branches of magic are elementally tied, and have a rock-paper-scissors-style triangle effect going on.
Couple that with the fact that certain monsters are certain colours and therefore likely certain elements, and you can probably see where Tri-Ace and Konami are going with this. Exploit the elemental weaknesses of your foes for massive damage!
Wow. Who knew labyrinths were so dangerous?

Wicked hope it comes to Europe.
Hope it gets Localized in the first place xD
Any game with pretty lights is sure to be a hit.
from what I see it looks awesome, I just don’t like that you can see only a girl and no other team members.. but everything else is great.. I hope that it’ll be good and come to Europe/USA
This game comes out in Japan on my 20th birthday…I want it so much.
This is such a nice looking game.
gameplay looks different… like a good version of the masked mirror dragon quest thingy on wii that was, ummmmm *looks for very bad word that isnt rude*… very bad
Here just take my money ok.
WOW, amazing, I’m speechless. Tri-Ace always makes very high quality games, with any luck knowing Tri-Ace they will release in Europe and America ^_^
