Create A Custom Hero In 3DS Fire Emblem: Awakening

Become part of the sweeping saga as you craft your own adventuring avatar.

More and more games are embracing the idea of customisable characters joining their rosters. Nintendo are no strangers to the idea, having pioneered the Mii system that helped to further popularise the notion of slapping your fizzog all over your videogames for fun and profit.

What’s more, it seems another of Nintendo’s franchises is joining the fray, with Siliconera confirming that Fire Emblem: Awakening will feature the ability to craft your own hero or heroine.

Mappy!

Nothing says 'fantasy-based videogame' quite like a big brown overworld map.

The character you create will represent you, the player, within the game world. Customisation will be based on selecting a gender and affixing various parts and pieces to craft your ideal vision of heroism, who will join Crown Prince Crom as the game’s second protagonist. What’s more, the story seems to revolve around you meeting Crom, so remember your airs and graces when talking to royalty, please. No burping or anything.

The game seems to revolve around the idea that legendary sleeping dragons are being awakened. This probably has a lot to do with the title, Fire Emblem: Awakening. Just a guess. Nonetheless, the fact that these big ol’ lizards are stirring from their eternal slumber seems to be heralding the end of the world, which is the sort of thing that’s becoming something of a frequent occupational hazard in videogame fantasy worlds recently.

In keeping with the dual heroes, the game features a mechanic in which standing allies next to each other can trigger special double-whammy moves for good old fashioned massive damage.

The game’s set to hit Japanese stores in April 19th, and is renowned as being the first 3DS game to officially have DLC available. There seems to be no word of a release in other territories as of yet, but hopefully Nintendo aren’t going back to the dark ages of keeping this much-loved strategy-RPG franchise to Japanese fans alone.

Because we all want to be heroes, darn it!

    Yeah, can’t wait for the newest Fire Emblem game! 😀 I, too, hope Japan releases this overseas. The fire emblem games I played are great quality, and am hoping to send my curly brown haired youth on a quest with a hero~

    Ooh, and if they let you make a death quote for your character, since all characters in the series has something to say when they die, I’m completely sold ^-^

      Even though I’ve only played the ambassador Fire Emblem, I know that I will never let any of my characters die, no matter how difficult that is! Of course, I have had to exit and start again some times…

        Agreed, currently my best file on sacred stones only lost 1 person (Donzla)

        It is quite annoying, especially if it’s you favorite character…….

    @Me.
    Yeah, can’t stand when a character I worked hard to level up dies in battle, or when a possible recruit gets killed, so I end up restarting my files over and over to save them x3 No man or women will fall before a enemies blade 😀
