Dragon Quest VII Screenshots Show Off Maps And Monsters
StreetPass lithograph pieces to discover new regions of the gameworld. Crowdsourced cartography!
Your humble writer still hasn’t found everything in Dragon Quest IX on the trusty Nintendo DS, given its capacity for generating bonus dungeons long after the main campaign is over. It’s quite possible that Square-Enix are seeking similar longevity in the already-enormous Dragon Quest VII, which is being revamped for a fresh or indeed returning 3DS audience.
Siliconera has compiled the latest batch of screenshots to surface, as well as giving information on the ‘lithograph’ system, a new way for players to interact via StreetPass.
Scattered throughout the game are fragments of stone tablets. These lithographs can be reassembled, allowing the player’s party to access hidden areas and regions in their ongoing exploration. As an added bonus, you can trade these fragments, it seems, via StreetPass, meaning the general public can actually help you find new things in your game. A splendid idea!
The game’s looking tremendous so far, and hopes are high for a global localisation for Dragon Quest fans the world over to sink their teeth into this game.
It’s been some time since the PlayStation original, meaning there are countless gamers who’ve never sampled Dragon Quest VII‘s delights. Whether you’re a returning fan or are brand new to this adventure, the 3DS revamp looks set to be the definitive version.
