Fire Emblem: Awakening Character Progession Trailer Showcases Advanced Classes

Keep those troops alive, and they’ll soon grow into mighty warriors!

Nintendo’s been flinging salvo after salvo of hot hype at us when it comes to Fire Emblem: Awakening, and like circus seals being pelted with fish, we’ve been gobbling it up, clapping our flippers and barking for more!

The latest trailer unveiled today shows off the character progression that so permeates the game as a whole. As a strategy RPG, the game features the capacity for your units to level up and increase in strength. It’s a staple of the series, but one that’s always good to see in action; the more warfare your units see, the more swiftly they’ll grow. The caveat there, of course, is that if those units die in battle before receiving promotion, all that growth will have been in vain. No pressure, Commander!

As the trailer shows, Awakening also maintains the franchise tradition of weapons having different levels, rated by classes up to A or even the almighty S class. Pairing the right character with the best possible weapon, budget-allowing of course, is key to succeeding.

Additionally, the video advises that relying on the powerhouses of your army isn’t the only way forward. Remember, those troops that seem weak at first have hidden depths which can only be brought to the fore if trained up through the rigours of warfare.

Of course, you’re going to want to keep a stockpile of those Master Seals handy. Branching career paths tempt many of your characters, meaning you’re going to have to make some wise decisions when increasing characters from Base to Advanced Classes.

Intriguingly, class changes seem to be available in all sorts of interesting directions by use of the Second Seal. You can take an established characted and completely alter his or her proficiency on the battlefield, giving you tremendous power over your choice of troops.

Fire Emblem: Awakening arrives in North America in just a few short days. What’s your battleplan?
