First Footage of The Conduit 3DS
The Wii original was met with mixed reviews, but the folks at Destructoid have posted the first video of the game running on the 3DS. And it’s impressive.
Thanks to the folks over at Destructoid, the first 3DS footage of The Conduit is now available for all the world to see.
In an interview with Destructoid, High Voltage Software’s Eric Stoll said the game is not a direct port of the first The Conduit game for the Nintendo Wii.
“What we have is a tech demo that’s taken assets directly from The Conduit 2, kind of a proof of concept to show what we can do on the 3DS,” Stoll said.
Although the video only features a brief glimpse of the game running on the 3DS, what we can see looks impressive. Stoll went on to add that the porting process wasn’t all that difficult, considering the Wii and 3DS share a similar design architecture.
Overall, High Voltage Software seems very optimistic about Nintendo’s upcoming handheld.
“Honestly, art/asset wise we didn’t have to do much to The Conduit 2 assets to get them up and running smoothly on the 3DS,” Stoll said. “It’s a pretty impressive handheld system.”
Stoll also stated they were still tweaking the controls and other elements of the game. So while this may only be a proof of concept, it seems that High Voltage is serious about bringing the series to the 3DS.
Back in Februrary, High Voltage Software’s chief creative officer, Eric Nofsinger, told Eurogamer, “We’re still early. The resolution is definitely lower, but the screen real estate is smaller so it balances out. We’ve not had a lot of severe optimisation yet, but we’re going to be able to have something very close to this [Conduit 2] on the 3DS probably by GDC.”
