Game Gear Headed To European eShop This Thursday

Prepare for Trouble, and make it… Triple? Get ready for some portable SEGA delights this thursday, Europe!

In case you missed it, the 3DS is in store for games from SEGA’s classic portable console, the Game Gear, adorning it’s virtual shelves on the eShop. This thursday, Europeans will be seeing three new additions: Sonic The Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Shinobi, and Dragon Crystal in an opening salvo of portable SEGA goodness.

Sonic Game Gear

Sonic The Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, originally released in 1994 as the sequel to Sonic Chaos, sees players once again take on the role of Sonic or Tails as they race across six zones, attempting to beat Knuckles and Nack the Weasel to the Chaos Emeralds. This one will be available at either €5 or £4.50.

In Shinobi, players take on the role of Joe Musashi, the Red Shinobi, on a journey to rescue his fellow shinobi so that they might rid the world of the City of Fear. This side-scrolling action game, originally published in 1991, will be available for €4 or £3.60, depending on your currency of choice.

Dragon Crystal is yet another cautionary tale of walking into shady antique shops in the middle of alleyways. This turn-based roguelike will have you venturing through mazes whilst being followed by a giant egg and punching an assortment of monsters in the face. The roguelike is a fairly timeless genre, so this is a great addition for my fellow fans. Get it this thursday for the price of €3 or £2.70.

So whether you’re an avid fan of SEGA’s old portable or someone just looking for a fun time, there’s something here for everybody. Personally, Dragon Crystal just sounds so wacky that I’m going to have to get it at that price. Which of these look interesting to you? What other classic Game Gear games would you like to see?
