Overview

Animal Crossing 3DS (working title) is the fifth installment in the Animal Crossing series. In the game, the player lives a virtual life and completes everyday tasks like checking the mail, shopping, working, etc. The player's character is a human, while all the other characters are anthropomorphic animals (animals with human features). While the game does set up some tasks to do when a player starts the game, ultimately the player decides his/her goals and whether the player wants to do them or not.

This game may not even be released, as Nintendo hinted it could've been ment to be used as a demostration of what the game was capable of, rather than a game for the 3DS console.

At E3 2011, Nintendo announced that a demo of the game will be available later in 2011, meaning that the game is still in development.

Changes from series

Notable changes in Animal Crossing 3DS include that players are now able to see the torso of their human character, a first for the series. The 3D feature adds "depths to the game, rather than things coming out of the screen," according to G4TV reporter Patrick Klepek. It is also now confirmed that the player will be the mayor of the town, giving the player more responsibility and freedom than ever before. Based on videos and images, players will also be able to buy different undergarments as well as tops and accessories. Beaches have been sighted on the west side of town; before, the beach always lied on the south side of town. Hedges and flower boxes lining the player's home have also been spotted. The ability to place items on top of dressers has also returned from the Gamecube version, and trees now have a completely new design. Also flowers are in clusters of 4 and not 3 as in all previous games. Also a benches and lampposts have been spotted, meaning that they are already added when the user starts the game or the user is able to place furniture outside of the home.

Also revealed at E3 2011 was that the character, using a diving suit, is able to swim in the sea around the town, and they are able to dive down as well. Also it was revealed that either your home can be changed (e.g. into a tent) or the user can select what type of house they want as three different house styles are seen in the trailer- a tent, a small cottage and two different houses- one with a standard gate and one with a hedge around the house. Also a beehive has been seen in the E3 trailer, possibly indicating that either there is a beekeeping "mini-game" or the user can place furniture wherever they want- as lampposts and benches have also been spotted. Also a Link costume has been spotted, meaning it is a costume to be used in the game, or it is a celebration of The Legend of Zelda's 25th Anniversary.

    For the tag mode thing, I think it will. I think that players (after experiencing tag mode) will receive a special in-game item from a friend

      Nintendo definitely hasn't forgotten about this game. My bet is that they're simply gonna save the details for January 19th. Possibly even E3, if it's not a launch title.

    I’ve heard it is to be a launch title. It was one of the first things shown to be in development so I’m pretty sure it’ll be a launch title.

    “Animal Crossing 3DS (working title) is the fifth installment in the Animal Crossing series.”

    I’m confused what the fourth title is: GameCube, DS, Wii and ??

    @Antony

    There was a gameboy version I think, and there was also a version for the N64(I think) which was only released in Japan, so I guess its the fifth or the sixth depending on where you are from.

    @NaterTot

    There was no Gameboy version, with the gamecube one you could hook a GBA on to get a basicly mini game from it. There was indeed an N64 version in Japan, This was the same game as the GC one basically since the GC is a port of the N64 one updated etc.

    I really am looking forward to this game. Why is Ninty keeping us in the dark? They had to have gotten at least a little bit further in development since they released that trailer for the 3DS, right? I watch that trailer every night before I go to sleep! And I’m so tired of playing ACCF because it was and remains HORRIBLE! Well I mean I guess it was okay if you’re new to AC, but I hated it. I want something fresh. So I suppose if I have to wait for it, it had better be the best damn animal crossing game EVER.

    Anyone else confused on why this game has 52 likes and yet is behind Harvest Moon 3D, which has 8 likes, Paper Mario (with 46 likes) and so on?
