Gameplay

Asphalt 3D is a racing game with different kinds of cars you can choose from and different tracks to race on. It was released on the 25th March 2011 in Europe and on the 27th March in North America upon the 3DS's launch. Gameloft developed the game and Ubisoft published Asphalt 3D.

Career Mode

There are 4 options within career mode.

Competitions

There are different cups to compete in, and each cup has different challenges you have to beat in order to win the whole cup. Winning challenges gets you money to buy a new car, or get your car new upgrades. It also levels you up. When you beat the whole cup, the next cup becomes available and an extra challenge in the cup you just beat gets unlocked.

Garage

Here, you get car upgrades, buy a new car, paint your car, or place stickers on your car.

Sponsors

As you level up, new Sponsors are available. Each sponsor has a different role. They do things such as giving you more money, or lowering police fines.

Achievements

There are twelve different achievements to unlock; some achievements include racing on all the tracks, winning your first race, scoring 1,000 points in a single drift, and smashing a number of track objects during an event.

Controls

The Analog Circle Pad or D-Pad is used to steer, the D-Pad is used to navigate menus, and the R, X, or Y buttons are used to activate boost. Reception

Asphalt 3D has been received quite poorly by critics, as can be shown through it's 44/100 Metacritic score. IGN and Game Informer gave the game a 3/10, while Gamespot awarded it a mediocre 5.5/10. The majority of critics believed that while the gameplay and 3D effects were quite impressive, the poor frame rate and overall unpolish evident in the game seemed to drag it down. The Official Nintendo Magazine, however, gave it a reasonable score of 70%, saying: "A surprisingly good installment. Well worth a look if you see it for £20 or so."
