Summary
Square Enix originally announced just a "Dragon Quest franchise" game for the Nintendo 3DS during E3 2010 via the big 3DS games list, and many assumed that it was to be the eleventh main series game, to come after the release of the tenth on Wii.
However, during March, they announced that it was not going to be a main series game. It was in fact a 3rd installment in the Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime series titled 'Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest: Daikaizoku to Shippodan'. The game is expected to be released in Japan this Winter with releases elsewhere unconfirmed. The game was released on the 2nd November 2011 in Japan.
Gameplay
Gameplay is expected to be similar to previous versions; you have to bounce a slime called 'Rocket' around the screen in order to defeat enemies and complete levels. It is much more action based than the turn-based battle system of the main Dragon Quest series.
This third game in the Rocket Slime series is reported to have a seafaring theme, in which players take their slimes out to sea and participate in ship-based battles. It is also expected to feature multiplayer game play and make use of the 3DS' online connectivity and SpotPass functionality.

this better be “Dragon Quest X”!!! i beat the crap out of “Dragon Quest IX” and was very disappointed with the ending! i seen a pear fall out of the sky and that was it, i want to know what happens next!

DUDE!!! OMG!!! You have to go to porth llaffen and talk to the girl there (I forget her name…) and she gives you a quest! Once you done all the stuff you get another fygg!! (you can guess what happens after that)
btw, I hope I haven’t ruined the story for you there….

dude….? can any of you read? it’s a spin off called DQ rocket slime. it’s not the new dragons quest 10 cause that’s coming out on wii. I want max pain/GTA 3d. think about bullet time in 3d and just from what Ghost Recon looks like, they could pull off some great stuff.

There’s an afterstory to the game. If you connect to wi-fi from the online store, it will give you more quests to do. It’s actually a decent afterstory, too.

DQM and Slime Rocket aren’t part of the main series – DQ 10 hasn’t been released yet, and will be on the Wii.
