Overview
Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is a game being developed by Intelligent Systems and Traveler's Tales. Like other games in the Lego series, you collect Lego studs to use as currency, and you play characters from a favorite series. In this installment, made up of the three released (and fourth unreleased) Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, you can play as Jack Sparrow and friends in Lego form while you explore the four movies. The storyline mainly follows its movie counterparts' stories, but slight variations for "lego-ifiation" might be seen throughout the game.
Gameplay
As with most popular Lego games that are renditions of famous movies, Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean has the player trying to get through levels that follow each movie by performing a combination of puzzle-solving and sword-fighting. "Over" twenty levels will be featured in the game, and each, in addition to completing the level, will have specific extra objectives to be earned such as collecting enough studs, or Lego currency in the game, and power bricks that can be bought for increased powerups. Seventy playable characters will also be able to be controlled throughout the game, with some characters being unlocked in story mode while others being unlocked by spending studs in the game hub for characters. Co-op gameplay has been confirmed for the home console versions of Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean, but it is unknown whether any sort of multiplayer will be available in the 3DS version of the game.
Release
On the 12th April, as part of Nintendo of Europe's Spring/Summer 2011 games line-up, Lego pirates of the Carribean was given an EU release date of the 13th May 2011.
Nintendo of America also announced that the game will be coming in the US sometime in May, and major retailers have the game listed as ready to be shipped on May 10, 2011.
