Overview
Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is a sports game developed by SEGA in collaboration with Nintendo and an entry into the Mario and Sonic Olympic series, and is a successor to Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, released in 2009 to coincide with the 2010 winter Olympic games held in Vancouver, Canada. The game is officially licensed by the International Olympic Committee, and the 3DS version will be launched alongside a Wii version, sometime before the 2012 Olympic Games, held in London, Great Britain. The game features 20 characters from Mario and Sonic games. The game was released on the 14th February 2012 in the USA and on the 10th February 2012 in Europe.
Gameplay
The game is said to include a variety of over 50 sports including athletics, aquatics and table tennis, new dream events (which are Olympic events set in iconic Mario and Sonic worlds, with exaggerated gameplay), as well as brand new sports along with featuring all of the original sports that appeared four years ago.
Like the previous games in the series, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is expected to feature real life Olympic venues, including the Olympic Stadiums to be featured in the actual 2012 London Olympic Games.
History
The Mario and Sonic at the Olympic game series contains some of the only games to feature characters from the Mario and Sonic franchises together. This series is also one of the only franchises that resulted as a cooperative effort from both Nintendo and Sega. The first game in the series, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was released in late 2007 to coincide with the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The game received mixed reviews with metacritic scores of 67 and 70 for Wii and DS, respectively.
The sequel, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, was released in 2009 to coincide with the 2010 winter Olympic games held in Vancouver, Canada. It fared slightly better with reviews averaging out at 72 and 76 for the Wii and DS, respectively, on metacritic. The series has sold well, selling over 19 million copies to date.

Make a serious Mario and Sonic game for once!
@jon
Jon, it is serious, it’s dead serious. That’s the best of the franchise you can get, and it’s actually really good. You must have a bad taste in gaming.
@jon
are you kidding me, the first one was the first video game I ever played

why cant it be on ds not 3ds
Seeing as how the previous iterations were critical failures, I think it’s painfully obvious where this is ending up.
