Overview
Pokémon Black and Pokémon White are expected to be the last Pokémon games released on DS. While they are Nintendo DS games, they can be played on a 3DS and are included on 3DS Buzz due to rumours of 3DS exclusive features and since they are of interest to many 3DS Buzz readers.
Despite the 30+ Pokémon games that have been released since 1998, Black and White are only the 5th generation of games in the core series. They introduce 156 new Pokémon to the series, bringing the total to 649. They are also the first not to include Pokémon from other games. It is also known that Victini is the first Pokémon in the Unova (Isshu) Pokédex, No. 494, carrying on from Arceus (No. 493).
Although Black and White will essentially be the same, they will continue the legacy of the previous games by having Pokémon unique to each game, including the legendary Pokémon. This way, trading is necessary to obtain all Pokémon. Another difference between the two will be two exclusive areas, one in each game. Black will have Black City which, as the name suggests, is a big city that is rather dark in colour. White will have the White Forest which, as the name also suggests, will be a bright forest. The idea is that city dwellers will have the chance to see a more pastoral scene and those who hail from the countryside will be able to explore a city.
Gameplay
In Pokémon Black And White, and all core generational Pokémon games, the player travels different regions collecting and training pokemon. The player as usual starts out with one of three starter pokemon Tepig, Snivvy, or Oshawott, which are fire, grass, and water types, respectively. The player then goes on to catch new pokémon and defeat others to help the player's pokémon to gain experience to level up.
There are many different areas to explore and missions to follow and this excludes the original to the game story-line in Pokémon, which range from collecting all pokemon, which requires an extensive amount of breeding and trading, to defeating the Elite Four and all Gym Leaders, which takes many battles and many experience points to achieve. Along the way, other aspiring trainers will need to be fought for extra experience and money to spend on items for the player and the pokemon being trained, either on or off the battlefield.
Wireless Features
Pokemon Black And White features many wireless features. Players can trade pokemon with other trainers over Wifi, they can battle other trainers, and they can video chat with friends while battling or trading together. Unfortunately, since the game was released for the Nintendo DS, no 3DS features, such as StreetPass and SpotPass, are included in Pokemon Black And White
Characters
The main characters in Pokémon Black and White are: Hilbert and Hilda (The playable Boy and Girl characters respectively) , N, Team Plasma (the villainous team), Belle, Cheren, and Professor Juniper.
Other Characters:
Mom - Hilbert/Hilda's Mom
Cedric - Professor Juniper's Father
Fennel - A Dream Researcher
Amanita - The Creator of Unova's Pokémon Storage system
Plot
This game is about a villainous team called Team Plasma and a man called N. They try to separate humans and Pokémon. Team Plasma is not determined to catch legendary Pokemon, N is. N is setting his goal to become a Pokemon King, and take over. Most likely, as usual in the series, the player character will have to stop Team Plasma from achieving these goals.
As in previous Pokemon games, the player will catch Pokemon and use them in battles, earning badges and trying to become a Pokemon Master. As well, stopping Team Plasma will be a secondary goal, as they're always causing trouble and trying to harm others.
Reception
Pokemon Black And White has continued the longstanding tradition of general praise when releasing a core generational game. One of the most negative reviews, Gamespot has given the game a score of 7.5/10, praising the wealth of content in the game while knocking it for using the same format over and over again. One of the most positive reviews has come from the Escapist magazine. The magazine gave the game a 10/10, praising the game for the content and flow of the game. Metacritic has given the game an aggregate score of 87, with almost all reviews being "positive" or "great".

Can’t wait for this game. It’s going to be good.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!! this is going to be epic !! ALTHOUGH nintendo did do a much beter job of the starter characters in the previous game, but otherwise awesome.
True, its going to be one hell of a game, but seriously! 649?!? I have enough trouble completing the Soulsilver pokedex as it is.
Will definately look forward to an all-new pokemon experience though, as I absolutely HATED those Zubat caves…
The statement of pokemon from other games not being in this game is false. you can transfer your pokemon from pearl, diamond, platinum, heart gold, and soul silver. plus the dream world function which requires wifi will enable you to get other the pokemon not found in the wild
lol toya boy/female
i cant waite! its out next week and me and my mate are actually (and literally) begging our perants for them.I’v seen all the new pokémon and think they’v gone and done a veeery good job on them. the starters are all awsome (xept the fire one, which looks like a mix of magmortar and dusknoir :/ ) and im getting the water one(its second evolution is awsome and because it is cut).but theres a problem…i have NO CLUE on weather it will be on the 3ds or the normal xl… probably xl because the game is gunna be out before the 3ds.
Sounds exactly the same as every other pokemon game out there. Boring
Where the Hell is Pickachu!!! U cannot hav a Pokemon game without Pickachu! ha ha XD
Who thought there would be 694 pokemon when they first released pokemon red and blue
They should make an evoloution of Absol =Absolutte
Hello i want this game so bad but christmas and my birthday arent until winter
I
I feel lonely
;(
this is not a 3ds game fail=(
I don’t really believe it’ll have “3DS exclusive content.”
why dont you make it two players becuse if you want too fight with your friend you cud havefun and see who is stronger and plaes make it in 3d and make the carcters tall and make the pokemon move when they fight thank you
Pokemon Black & White are probably gonna be the last Pokemon games. If you don’t pass it in 10 days your Black City and/or Black Forest won’t function properly. Which really sucks. The only thing my Black City can be used for is hatching eggs. And they kept rushing EVERYTHING! “But it before April 10 or you won’t get Victini!” “Pass it before 10 days or your Black City/White Forest won’t function properly!” Plus the removed a bunch of features like poffins, planting berries, coordination contests (replaced by the “Pokemon Musical” which sucks), AND the took out the VS Seeker! Since they took out the VS Seeker you can only fight trainers once, so after you passed the game the only way to get money and get stronger would be Black City or White Forest. But if you don’t pass it the city will be empty. Which sucks. You can always beat the elite four but they are REALLY hard to beat after the first time. The only way to get your Black City/White Forest to grow is to get people to move to your game from a friend’s game. Of course they would still loose people and that sucks. And this feature can’t be done through Wi-Fi, your limited to locals. And so far me and my siblings are the only ones that have the games! So this completely sucks. It’s been laying in my 3DS case unused since the day I passed it. If the whole 10 day thing didn’t happen I would’ve kicked everyone’s butts in Pokemon battles. But since my Pokemon can’t get any stronger I’m screwed. And even if they did. Who would I fight when I’m alone? This thing doesn’t have a VS Seeker. Oh, and for some odd reason you get the fishing rod AFTER you beat the game. I dunno why. =/
@POKEMON FAN BOY
You kidding me? the d/p starters were terrible.
@lemon
i liked the Hoen starers of R/S/E
is it just me or does pokemon Black/White kinda look bad on the 3DS?
could u all buy pokemon black and white and i like the sinnoh
I bought this ages ago and it’s a great game. I completed the main story but the grinding took forever as usual which is good. My Pokemon are around LV.50 for about half of them but they need to improve in level to beat the areas with ridiculously high Lv.60 area Pokemon.
