Overview

Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney is a crossover of the Professor Layton series and the Phoenix Wright series. This game was announced at the Level 5 Vision 2010 conference on October 19 2010. This will feature puzzles and clips from the Layton series and a court case from the Phoneix Wright series.

This game has been confirmed for Japan but there has not yet been any confirmation of a western release. With the recent news that Ace Attorney Investigations is to be not localised for the US, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney's future is looking less than certain in the west. However, during a webchat, Christian Svensson (Capcom's US VP) said that Level 5 have been driving most of the development, and therefore the decision of whether to localise the game is likely to be down to them. However, with the success of Professor Layton in the west, the game may be treated differently due to the fact that it is a collaboration.

Plot

Layton and Wright arrive in a town called 'Labyrinth City'. The town is ruled by a mysterious man known as the 'Storyteller'. Whatever he writes down in a book comes true. Layton and Wright must work together to help a girl wrongly accused of being a witch. She came to Labyrinth City because her town was burnt down by masked people prior to the game. They have now accused her of being a witch; Wright must defend her and prove she is innocent, while Layton takes up the prosecution. But the girl doesn't know that the Storyteller has wrote down in his book, stating that the girl is guilty and will be killed... Layton and Wright must work together to save the girl and defeat the Storyteller to return peace to Labyrinth City.

Development

The idea was originally from Level 5 who approached Shu Takumi (the creator of ace attorney) about the idea. Most people involved were almost certain that Takumi would reject the idea, but to their surprise, he accepted on the condition that he would be the script writer. This game will be developed by Level-5 and Capcom and published by Campcom.
