Overview

Spider Man Edge of Time is an action/adventure game. The Spider-Man series takes on the aspect of time in this title as players find themselves controlling current day Spider-Man and the Spider-Man from the year 2099. Regular characters make a comeback as players rush to save the future of the world. On the 4th October 2011 this game was released in America and on the 14th October 2011 it was later released for Europe.

Gameplay

Whilst the majority of the game will be the usual Spider-Man style we've seen before, a mixture of Action Adventure and Sandbox style gameplay, the main feature of this title will be a specific 'cause and effect' system that is constantly in action. Players can also find hidden spiders and newspapers to unlock concept art, figurines, and cinematics. Players can also take on challenges within the games levels and after beating the campaign to unlock alternate suits for both Spider-Men.

Plot

In the year 2099, Alchemax scientist Walter Sloan seeks to gain power and fortune by traveling back in time to the present day in order to use his knowledge of future technology to found Alchemax much ahead of time. This causes the future of 2099 to change to a dystopia where Alchemax rules the world with an iron fist. Miguel O'Hara / Spider-Man 2099 is aware of the plan and finds out that Sloan's actions are not only responsible for the changes in the timeline but will also cause the death of Peter Parker / Spider-Man at the hands of Anti-Venom. Miguel warns Peter of the impending danger, and both Spider-Men must work together across time to save the future and Peter Parker's life.

Development

Development started on Edge of Time in early 2011, and Marvel revealed the first looks of the game in April 2011, including a trailer. Pre-ordering the game will allow access to a variety of different costumes and outfits for the console versions of the game, however do added bonus has been announced for the 3DS. This game was developed by Beenox and published by Activision.
