Overview
Super Meat Boy is an indie platformer game that draws heavy inspiration from classic 2D sidescrollers. This is emphasized in that the game's title shares its initials with the legendary Super Mario Bros.
Team Meat originally planned to release a version of the game on WiiWare, but due to the file size limits associated with the Wii download service, the game had to be cancelled since the creators overestimated their ability to persuade Nintendo to allow them an increased file size. There is now a plan to release the game on 3DS instead.
Gameplay
Over the course of the game, Meat Boy, the game's titular protagonist, embarks on a quest to save Bandage Girl from the evil Dr. Fetus. Gameplay happens on a flat 2D plane, and the player's goal is to guide Meat Boy to the end of every level using his unique ability to cling to walls.
Reception
Super Meat Boy has already been released Xbox Live Arcade as well as the PC, and has been showered with praise by critics and gamers alike. Critics praised the game's inventive level designs and extreme difficulty.
