Overview

thump
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a remake of the much celebrated Nintendo 64 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It also includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest, which is a harder version of Ocarina of Time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D stars Link, a young Hylian boy, who wakes up one day to a dying Great Deku Tree. He then goes on to save the world from Ganon's evil plans. It was the first entry in the The Legend of Zelda series to take place in a three-dimensional environment, and it is the first to utilize stereoscopic 3D graphics. The game is set in the Hyrule Kingdom, with the Hyrule Fields being a hub-world to get around major areas of the game.

In the middle of 2011 there were many rumours of a new Zelda game being made. Finally in November, Nintendo announces that the rumour is true and they will be making a new Zelda for the Nintendo 3DS in the near future. It is unsure if this will be a remake or a brand new game. It is thought that Nintendo is starting work on it this year but because of the Wii U release and the possible Zelda game for it, development may not start until 2013.

Changes From The Original

Nintendo implemented a number of new features into The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D such as the ability to quickly equip and unequip items using the touchscreen, and the capability of using the Nintendo 3DS's integrated gyroscope to look around in first-person view has been introduced. The gyroscope allows for precise aiming while using items such as the slingshot.

The graphics have been greatly improved from the original Nintendo 64 version. Environmental textures show the greatest improvement, with 2D backgrounds being fully rendered in 3D, and the game now runs at a smooth 30 frames per second (compared to the original stuttering framerate of 15-24 on the Nintendo 64). Nintendo hasn't revealed whether this figure was obtained with the 3D effect running or not, however.

Shigeru Miyamoto has also stated that there are a number of new features that weren't included in the original Nintendo 64 version of the game. One of these features is a Boss Rush Mode that will unlock after reaching a certain point in the game. In this new mode, the player will be able to fight all of the bosses in the story again by going through all of them in successive levels of difficulty, all in one try.

It was also been mentioned that a hint system will be implemented into the game. However, this hint system is very different from the likes of the Super Guide from games such as New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Instead of a computer player going through the level, a 30 second to 1 minute video clip is offered to you, known as Visions, and it will try to lead you onto the right path on the puzzle rather than showing you what to do. These clips will only be able to be seen after you have tried completing the puzzle or defeating the boss for too long. This should give the player a sense of accomplishment even though you got a helping hand.

Also to be noted is that some environments have been changed from the original. For instance, the Water Temple, notorious for its difficulty in the original game for the Nintendo 64, has been meddled with just a touch to make it a tad easier.

During the Master Quest, unlocked after you complete the game, Hyrule will be mirrored for added difficulty, and there will be some form of harder levels.

The Stone of Agony has been changed to the Shard of Agony and lights up and makes noises when close to something hidden.

With the touch screen you can now equip a total of 4 items at a time instead of 3. And the Ocarina has its own spot on the touch screen.

Navi suggests to take a break after every 10-15 minutes.

Some names of items have been changed, such as the Odd Potion being renamed to Odd Poultice and the Gerudo's Membership Card to Gerudo Token.

You can have the notes to music displayed on the touch screen while playing the Ocarina, making it easier not having to go through various menus to remember song notes.

Development

Nintendo first showed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D as a non-playable demo at E3 2010. After pictures of the demo were leaked through the Nintendo E3 website, the game was announced to be in development, and a playable demo was shown at later events. The game was developed by Nintendo EAD in partnership with Grezzo.

Story

Spoiler Alert!

The following section contains major plot points, continue at the risk of ruining the story for yourself.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D takes place before the events of the first four games in the Legend Of Zelda series, but after the story of The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The first scene of the game starts when Link's fairy companion, Navi, wakes him up from a nightmare he had experienced where the evil Dark King, Ganondorf, was chasing Princess Zelda on a stormy night. Navi and Link set off to the Great Deku Tree, a dying tree that serves as the guardian of Link's village. There, he manages to break a curse set upon it, but he cannot stop the aging and decaying of the tree. Before dying, the Great Deku Tree gives Link one of three Spiritual Stones and tells him to go to the Hyrule Kingdom.

There, he meets Princess Zelda and finds out that the Ganondorf seen in his nightmare was the same one that killed the Great Deku Tree. Link finds out that Ganondorf wants to expand his evil by obtaining the Triforce, which could give him virtually unlimited power. Princess Zelda asks Link to gather all three Spiritual Stones to open the way to the Triforce, and sends Link off. Once Link obtains all three Spiritual Stones, he returns back to the Hyrule Kingdom to see his nightmare visualized.

Although Link could not stop Ganondorf from pursuing Princess Zelda, he manages to obtain the Ocarina of Time, the last thing needed to get to the Triforce. Link uses all three of these items to open the way. He finds the Master Sword, a sword designed to fight evil, but as he is pulling the sword from its pedestal, Ganondorf appears and steals the Triforce away from the Sacred Realm.

Seven years later, an older Link awakens to a dark and desolate land ruled by Ganondorf. He finds out that seven Sages had put his spirit to rest until the time came to use the Master Sword to defeat Ganondorf. Sheik, one of the seven Sages, explains to Link that due to the unbalance in Ganondorf's heart, the Triforce was split into three separate pieces. Ganondorf retains the Triforce Of Power, Zelda obtains the Triforce of Wisdom, and Link receives the Triforce of Courage. Sheik is also revealed to be Princess Zelda in disguise.

Princess Zelda gives Link light arrows that are needed to defeat Ganondorf, but shortly after this, Princess Zelda is kidnapped and put inside a crystal by Ganondorf. The other six Sages help Link enter the tower and defeat Ganondorf, freeing Princess Zelda, but before they can escape the collapsing castle, Ganondorf awakens and conjures a ring of fire around the two, with Link's Master Sword on the outside of the fire.

Using the Triforce Of Power, Ganondorf transforms from his human form, Gerudo, to his boar form, Ganon. The two battle, with Princess Zelda sending waves of light to help paralyze Ganondorf. Once Link manages to get back his Master Sword, he delivers the final blow to Ganon, and finally defeats him, with the Sages trapping him in his own dark realm. Link uses the Ocarina of Time to return back seven years, where the land is peaceful without Ganondorf.

End of Spoilers

Gameplay

The gameplay is nearly identical to the original game, with a few mechanical differences (see "Controls"). On his quest to save the world, Link adventures through the land of Hyrule, periodically entering dungeons to achieve certain goals. Every dungeon contains a key game item and a boss that must be defeated with it. Between dungeons, the player can explore the expansive overworld and discover its many secrets and inhabitants.

Approximately halfway through the game, the Ocarina of Time is introduced, which allows Link to travel seven years into the future of Hyrule, and back again (switching between child and adult stages). In addition to this, Link can learn a number of songs which grant the Ocarina of Time additional powers, such as the ability to change night to day and summon storms. Switching between child and adult forms is key to beating the game and obtaining all of its secrets, as Child Link and Adult Link have various differences. For instance, the horse Epona can only be ridden by Adult Link, but can only be obtained as Child Link. Certain equipment is age-specific as well.

Controls

The way items are equipped has been simplified from the original Nintendo 64 version. The game now lets the player tap the touch screen to use and equip up to 4 items plus the Ocarina of Time (which is always equipped). The Nintendo 3DS's built in gyroscope has also been implemented so players are able to aim with precision when using certain items, such as the slingshot (first person view has also been enhanced in this manner). The Circle Pad is used for movement, the A button is the action button, the B button is for attacking, the L button is for targeting an item or character, and the R button is used to defend with your shield, similar to the control schemes of the original Ocarina of Time.

Master Quest

It was confirmed in an interview with a Nintendo representative that the game will feature a Master Quest mode "as well." From the wording, fans speculated that both versions, the original and Master Quest, would be included in the same game cart.

That has been confirmed on the Nintendo of America website mentioning that it would have the same graphical enhancements from the original Nintendo 3DS quest. From what Nintendo had stated, fans speculated that the Master Quest may be different from the Gamecube version. "The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest – a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons that feature the same graphical and interface upgrades as the main game." Rather than being available as a separate game, like on the Gamecube version, The Master Quest has to be unlocked after the story of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D is completed. Unlike the Gamecube version, the Master Quest on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D also makes you take double damage and the world of Hyrule is mirrored.

Mini-Bosses

Bigocto

Bigocto is the mini-boss of Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly. To defeat Bigocto, you must run around the spinning circular platform, while avoiding the spikes, in the opposite direction it is moving. When you are close enough to Bigocto, throw the Boomerang at it, stunning it. Attack it's green back to hurt it. Do this multiple times to defeat him.

Poe Sisters

The mini-bosses of Forest Temple. Joelle and Beth are "haunting" the paintings in the narrow hallways located on both sides of the room where the Fairy Bow is obtained. You have to hit the paintings with them on it to make them appear and then defeat them by hitting them multiple times with arrows. Amy inhabits a single large painting taking up most of the wall. Shoot the painting once, which does not destroy it, but causes five Blocks to fall from the ceiling. Assemble four of these blocks to form the image of Amy in the painting. Amy appears and you must defeat her with arrows. Meg appears after beating the other three sisters. As Link approaches her, she attacks. Unlike her sisters, Meg splits herself into four identical replications which surround Link. To defeat Meg, you must use the Fairy Bow to damage the real Meg.

Flare Dancer

Flare Dancer is the mini-boss of the Fire Temple. The Flare Dancer's fiery body makes him immune to direct sword attacks. With the Hookshot pull out the actual creature from its burning body. Without its shield, the creature will attempt to run away from its attacker, and despite its stubby legs, it is astoundingly quick. Slash it with your sword ,after a few hits, it will rekindle itself by leaping into a the fire set in the middle of the room, at which time its clothes will change to blue. After another round, it will change to green in the same manner. After three rounds, the Flare Dancer self-detonate.

Dark Link

Dark Link is the mini-boss of the Water Temple. He is a shadowy copy of Link and as such has a lot of his moves too. There are many ways too fight him and defeat him, but the easiest is to just repeatedly use Din's Fire until he is defeated.

Dead Hand

Dead Hand is a mini-boss in The Bottom of The Well and Shadow Temple. It will try to grad link with one of it's many hands and bite him. It is immune to all weapons besides Link's sword and keeps its head pointed upwards as it moves into an attacking position. However, when it bends over to attack, you must swing your sword and slice its face many times before it turns around and retreats to the safety of its hiding place. Dead Hand will eventually be defeated and will topple over and die.

Bosses

Queen Gohma

Queen Gohma, is the boss of Inside the Deku Tree, the first dungeon of the game. Queen Gohma is the "curse" that was placed on the Great Deku Tree by Ganondorf. She can hatch Gohma Larvae to help her. To defeat her, Link must hit her eye with a shot from the Fairy Slingshot when it turns red. Link can also use Deku Nuts to attack the eye. After being hit, Queen Gohma is temporarily stunned and drops to the floor, allowing Link to deal damage to her eye with the Kokiri Sword or a Deku Stick. Do this a few times and she will be defeated.

King Dodongo

King Dodongo is the boss of Dodongo's Cavern, the second dungeon of the game. To defeat him wait till he charges up his fire attack. Then throw a Bomb or Bomb Flower in his mouth. When the bomb explodes he becomes vulnerable to a sword attack. After Link has slashed him enough times, he gets up, curls into a ball, and rolls around the outside of the room, similar to a Goron. Avoid getting hurt by using a Hylian Shield to protect yourself from the attack. Once King Dodongo stops, he will start his attack again, in which you must throw another bomb or bomb flower in his mouth. Once King Dodongo has taken enough damage he is defeated.

Barinade

Barinade is the boss of Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, the third dungeon of the game. To defeat him, aim the Boomerang at the tentacles attaching Barinade to the ceiling. Once you have successfully severed all the tentacles, Barinade will spin several Bari around itself while chasing after you. You must aim the Boomerang at Barinade's main body to stun it. Once stunned, You can use the Boomerang to defeat the now stationary Bari, leaving the main body of Barinade completely vulnerable to attack. Barinade now shoots several beams of electricity at Link, which Link can sidestep. Now hit him with several sword strikes until Barinade recovers and then repeat the process until it can take no more.

Phantom Ganon

Phantom Ganon is the boss of the Forest Temple and boss of the first dungeon for Adult Link. Phantom Ganon fights using a lance, magic attacks, his horse. He starts off by riding from within a painting towards you, confusing you by appearing in two paintings at once. However, the darker image will turn back from the surface of the painting at the last moment, indicating that the other is the true Phantom, and you must shoot him with the Fairy Bow. After suffering enough damage, Phantom Ganon's horse will perish, and Phantom Ganon will resort to hovering over the field of battle, using his staff to fire magical energy bolts at you. You need to deflect these without being hit. Once you successfully hit Phantom Ganon with the energy ball, move in and attack with your sword until Phantom Ganon gets back up. Repeat until he is finally defeated.

Volvagia

Volvagia is the boss of the Fire Temple. Volvagia begins the battle by flying into one of the 9 lava pits. One of the pits will begin to bubble, and Volvagia will emerge from it. Use the Megaton Hammer to strike his head and stun him. After being stunned, Volvagia is vulnerable to attack from your sword. Volvagia can fly out of the magma pit and execute one of two attacks. He will fly around and breathe fire or he will fly up to the top of the room and cause boulders to fall from the ceiling. As the battle progresses, multiple pits on the platform will bubble before Volvagia emerges, making it harder to predict where he will emerge. After several strikes he will burn up and be destroyed.

Morpha

Morpha is the boss of the Water Temple. The only way to defeat the him is to destroy its nucleus. Since it never leaves its pool, you must reel shoot its nucleus with the Longshot. Then slash the nucleus as much as possible with your sword. During the battle, Morpha attacks by using the water in the pool to create large tentacles it uses to grab you. If you fall into the pool, Morpha, who isn't affected by the water's resistance, will continue to slam into you until you to escape the pool. After attacking it's nucleus enough he will be defeated.

Bongo Bongo

Bongo Bongo is the boss of the Shadow Temple. The battle takes place on a large drum, surrounded by a strange liquid that will damage you. You can only see him with The Lens of Truth. You must first stun both of Bongo Bongo's hands with arrows. Once one hand is stunned, the other hand trys to use various tactics to attack. After both of its hands are stunned, Bongo Bongo does one more attack, involving its entire body and both fists charging across the drum towards you. This attack is unavoidable and causes massive damage. While Bongo Bongo is executing this attack is one of the only times the creature is vulnerable, its eye will open and you are able to fire an arrow at it, or, with precise timing, strike it with his sword. This will disable it, allowing you to damage the boss by slashing its eye repeatedly for a moment, before it rises again and resumes its attack. Repeat until he is defeated.

Twinrova

Twinrova are the bosses of the Spirit Temple.

Part One

In their first form, Koume and Kotake have different elements, fire and ice. When one of the old witches fires a beam of fire or ice at you pick up the mirror shield quickly for reflecting it upon the other witch for a few seconds. In doing so, the element of ice is attacked by the element of fire, and vice versa. After this process is done a total of four times, they will fuse to create Twinrova, an extremely powerful witch, who is the true boss.

Part Two

They will fuse together to create Twinrova, an extremely powerful witch, who is the true boss. The two witches combined together supposedly form the ultimate combination with no weaknesses. She shoots either a fire beam or an ice beam. When she fires magic at you let it hit the Mirror Shield to absorb it. Absorbing the opposite elements will damage you, so dodge Twinrova's attacks until she fires a second and third attack of the same element. After absorbing the same element three times, it fires back, damaging her, and allowing you to strike her with your sword. After repeating this several times, Twinrova is defeated.

Ganondorf

Ganondorf is the boss of Ganon's Castle, the final dungeon. The boss fight begins with Ganondorf punching the ground creating a massive shock wave, knocking down floor tiles. Ganondorf's main attack consists of a single energy ball, which can be hit back using the sword. If you hit him with one of the balls, Ganondorf becomes temporarily vulnerable, allowing Link to shoot a Light Arrow at him. Further weakened by the Light Arrow, Ganondorf falls to the central platform. After moving to the central platform, Lock onto Ganondorf and use the sword to attack him until he rises back up out of Link's reach. After repeating this for several times Ganondorf shall fall, but he won't give up.

Ganon

Ganon is the final boss of the game. At the beginning of the fight, a giant wall of flames surrounds the arena before Ganondorf explodes out of the ruins and takes the form of a giant, nightmarish, boar-like creature armed with a pair of large swords. He lashes out at you and knocks the Master Sword away from you, sending it flying over to the other side of the fire barrier, where it lands near Zelda. You must defeat Ganon by slashing him in the tail with the Biggoron's Sword, the Megaton Hammer, or shooting him with Light Arrows. Halfway through the battle, Ganon collapses, and the ring of fire surrounding Link and Ganon disappears to reveal Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. You must now regain use of the Master Sword, which is the only real effective weapon against Ganon. After several more attacks, Ganon collapses again. Zelda uses her powers to immobilize Ganon, allowing you to land a final blow to his head with the Master Sword.

Equipment & Items

Link's Equipment

To complete his quest to thwart the King of Evil and his sinister plot to control Hyrule, Link needs to take up arms. Link can use Swords, Shields, Boots, and more to bolster his chances. Many things can be upgraded multiple times, too,, such as Wallets that hold Rupees (The Coin of the Realm), Bomb bags, and so much more!! So try it out!!

Link's Swords

What kinda of Zelda game would this be without swords? There are many swords that you acquire throughout the game.

  • Kokiri Sword - The Kokiri Sword is Link's very first blade. Its one of the the treasures of the kokiri, and thus hidden within the village. The Sword isn't terribly large, but is in perfect size for Child Link. However, even if the Sword itself is a tad small, it's still powerful enough to put some hurt on the many nasties of Huruley, such as Deku Baba and Keese.
  • Master Sword - The legendary Master Sword is one of the great threads that connects all adventures in Hyrule. According to legend, the Master Sword is the only weapon that can defat the King of Evil. The Master Sword is larger and more Powerful than the Kokiri Sword, making perfect for Adult Link. This Sword is Located in the Temple of Time, locked behind a door that can only be opened after Link collect all the three Spiritual Stones. This is a blade that time resides in the Temple of Time. When Link pulls the Master Sword out of its pedestal, he travels seven years into the future. This is Adult Link's basic weapon. When Adult Link puts it back, he travel 7 Years back to his present.
  • Giant's Knife - The Giant's Knife can be bought from Medigoron for 200 rupees. Although it has greater strength than the Master Sword, it is also very fragile and will break after 8 hits. So its better to complete the Biggoron's Quest and get the Biggoron's Sword.
  • Biggoron's Sword - Though the Master Sword is the only weapon that can bring down the King of Evil, Biggoron's Sword is actually the most powerful blade that Link can use in his adventure. Biggoron's Sword requires two hands, so Link cannot use his shield while brandishing this blade. However, the considerable extra damage dealt by Biggoron's Sword can end the fight faster, making a Shield less necessary.
  • Biggoron's Sword is the reward for completing a trading Minigame that sends Link crisscrossing across Hyrule on a series of errands. However, Biggoron's Sword is well worth the effort, especially against some of the tougher Dungeon Bosses.

Link's Shields

  • Deku Shield - The very first first shield Link finds is the Deku Shield, located in the Kokiri Village. Tough the Shield is a little small, it is still very effective against some enemy attacks, suck as repelling projectiles from Deku Scrubs. The Deku shield is made of wood, so it's weakness to fire makes it a relatively risky choice to use under volcanic and high heat conditions because contact with fire will burn the shield. Also some enemies that hold fire power can cause the shield to burn.
  • If you loose the Deku Shield, don't fret. You can always buy a replacement in shops or from some of the Business Scrubs in secret Grottoes. Deku Shields cost about a number of 40 Rupees.
  • Hylian Shield - Very durable shield. Unlike the Deku Shield it will not burn or catch on fire. When used by Young Link he will crouch down instead of hold it upright, which is useful for the fight against King Dodongo. Adult Link will hold the shield regularly. This is also the basic shield for Adult Link.
  • If the shield is eaten by a Like-Like, you can buy another one.
  • Mirror Shield - The final shield that Link acquires in his adventure. It is found in the Spirit Temple and has the ability to reflect light, which is used to solve various puzzles.Other than reflecting light, the Mirror Shield acts almost the same as other shield except for the fact that it destroys the projectiles spat at Link by Octoroks instead of reflecting them. Young link is unable to use this item. Unlike other shields, this shield cannot by eaten by Like-Likes.

Link's Tunics

Link has various different tunics he acquires throughout the game. They give him additional ability's like resistance to extreme heat and the ability to breath under water.

  • Kokiri Tunic - The green koriki Tunic is the typical dress of the Kokiri people, the Children the Forest. When Link first wakes from his terrible dream, he's wearing this Green Tunic. It also grows along link when he travels into the future via the Temple of Time!
  • Goron Tunic - The red Goron Tunic was designed by the people of Death Mountain. It protects the wearer from extreme heat in such places as Death Mountain Crater. Though Link first sees the goron Tunic in the Goron Shop (inside Goron City) when he's a child, the red Goron Tunic is too big for him to wear. Only adult Link can wear the red Goron Tunic. The Gorons Tunic is first awarded to Link by Darunia's son when he returns as an adult. If the tunic is lost, it can be repurchased at the Goron shop! So don't get sacred!
  • Zora Tunic - Link cannot hold his breath underwater for very long, but as soon as he dons a blue Zora Tunic, he's practically gifted with gills. The Zora Tunic is only available for adults, so Link cannot purchase or acquire one until he's grown. Link receives the Zora Tunic from the defrosted King Zora.
  • If Link loses the Zora Tunic (Hungry Like-Likes Likes to devour special tunics), but Link can buy a replacement from the zora shop in Zora's Domain!!

Link's Boots

Link has various different types of boots throughout the game, they help him by giving him new abilitys, like to hover and walk under water.

  • Kokiri Boots - These are the basic boots for link and have no special powers.
  • Iron Boots - Links's default Kokiri Boots are fine for keeping Link's feet dry, but they're no help underwater. The special Iron Boots (Recovered in the Ice Cavern) are ideal for underwater mobility. Once link slips his feet into these heavy Boots, he sinks underwater and can walk along the underwater ground.

Hint: The Iron Boots are also useful for stomping across shifting sands. So, basically they are useful compared to Kokiri Boots.

  • Hover Boots - The winged Hover Boots help Link temporally thwart gravity. While wearing Hover Boots, Link can run off a ledge or the edge of a platform and keep moving for several steps before he eventually starts to fall. These Boots are essential for crossing large gasps in the floor. And this helps you also to reach places that you wouldn't normally reach!

Word of Warning: When worn on regular ground, the Hover Boots cause slipping and sliding as if Link is walking on Ice. It's not impossible to slide right off a ledge.

Link's Bracelets and Gauntlets

Throughout the game Link will acquire special Bracelets and Gauntlets that upgrade his strength to allow him to pick up certain things he couldn't pick up usually.

Goron Bracelet

This special bracelet gives Young Link the strength of the Gorons. He is able to pick the special Bomb Flowers scattered throughout Hyrule.

Silver Gauntlets

These silver-plated gauntlets enhance Link's strength, allowing him to lift rocks and move huge stone blocks when he wears them.

Golden Gauntlets

This super powerful gauntlets found inside Ganon's Castle gives Link the ability to lift and throw massive pillars.

Link's Scales

Throughout the game link will get special Zora scales that allow him to breath under water for short periods of time.

Silver Scale

The Silver Scale is a silver scale encased in a blue sphere of water that Link receives as the prize for winning the Diving Game in Zora's Domain. The Silver Scale allows Link to dive for up to 6 seconds, and can be used when he is either a child or an adult.

Gold Scale

The Golden Scale is a special gold scale, encased in a green sphere. It is an upgrade to the Silver Scale that extends the allotted time for diving, allowing Link to dive deeper into bodies of water. The Golden Scale is not needed to complete the game, but is neccesary in getting all heart pieces.

Special Items

Their are a few special items in the game, These are helpful in many ways, like helping you access secret areas or getting special rewards.

Shard of Agony

The Shard of Agony is a very special item you recieve from the Skulltula Family after getting 20 Gold Skull Tokens. It flashes and makes sounds if you get near special hidden items or areas. This is very helpful in finding Gold Skulltulas or Heart Pieces.

Gerudo Token

This card certifies the holder as a Gerudo and will allow the person holding it to move freely around the Gerudo's Fortress, permitting access to the Gerudo's Training Ground, Horseback Archery Range, and Haunted Wasteland. Link is given the it by Aveil after sneaking into the Gerudo's Fortress and freeing the four imprisoned Carpenters.

Golden Skull Tokens

These golden tokens appear after defeating a Gold Skulltula. Their are 100 tokens in the game and you must collect them all to break the curse on the Fabulously Rich Family in Kakariko Village. When you get certain amounts the familt will reward you with items.

  • 10 Tokens-Adult Wallet
  • 20 Tokens-Shard of Agony
  • 30 Tokens-Giant's Wallet
  • 40 Tokens-Bombchus
  • 50 Tokens-Piece of Hearts
  • 100 Tokens-Infinite Gold Rupees

Items

You collect many items throughout the game that allow you to attack enemies in new ways and gain areas you couldn't earlier, most items you get from big chests in the dungeon, although some you get by other means, such as doing certain quests throughout the game.

Link's Gear

Deku Sticks

Deku Sticks are switches of wood primarily used as makeshift torches. When you have one in hand, Link just needs to go in front of a torch to ignite it. After getting on fire the Duku Stick remains only for several seconds. So basically, it burns out. But if Link manages to put it away before it burns out, you can save 1 Deku Stick. Deku Sticks can be used to attack enemies or used with the light on fire to solve puzzles. They are easy to break if Link hits hard enemies or hard surfaces with them.

Deku Nuts

When Deku Nuts are thrown in the ground, Deku Nuts explode in a flash of light. This stuns most enemies (Even Giant Bosses) and does fatal damage to weak foes. The flash can also dispel the elemental qualities of some enemies, like a Fire Keese. The stun is only for a short time, so be careful and use them wisely.

Bombs

Bombs are one of the most useful items link uses on his adventure. Bombs can be ignited and thrown at any enemy from a decent distance (A little Far), dishing out big damage. However, bombs are also used to blast through boulders and breakable walls. Many secret grottoes are revealed through strategic bomb placement. Be sure to seek out the Bomb Bag upgrades so Link can carry more Bombs on his Quest.

Fairy Slingshot

The Fairy Slingshot is the first projectile weapon Link obtains in his adventure. Located in a Treasure Chest withing the Great Deku Tree, this slingshot allows Link to fire Duku Seeds at enemies, damaging them from afar. Shot Deku Seeds can also trigger switches and solve puzzles. While the slingshot is not the most powerful weapon Link can use (not by a long shot), it is quite effective against some enemies with elemental properties. For example, hitting a Fire Keese with a Deku Seed temporally eliminates the effect of its fire preventing you to get burned. This can ONLY be used by Young Link!!

Fairy Bow

When Link is and adult, he can no longer use the Fairy Slingshot. However, this item is replaced (For Adult Link Only) by the Fairy Bow, which is found inside the Forest Temple. The Fairy Bow fires arrows, which which do more damage than the Deku Seeds. Arrows can also flip switches, and they can light torches...as long as you fire one through a fire source on its way to the torch. Only used by Adult Link, the bow is much more powerful than the Fairy Slingshot, and has many different types of arrows to use. Each with its own characteristics.

Arrows

These are the kinds of arrows used by Link, each one has a different characteristic and does a different effect on an enemy. They may, burn, freeze, paralyze, and much more!!!

  • Arrows - These are the standard arrows to use. Arrows are the Projectile fired from the Fairy Bow. More powerful than Deku Seeds fired from the Fairy Slingshot, arrows are fast and lethal (Deathly). In some situations, arrows can be fired through torches and temporally ignited to light other torches.
  • Fire Arrows - Magical Fire Arrows are powered-up arrows that do extra damage to enemies (Especially those made of Ice). Fire arrows also light torches and burn down environmental hazards. Unleashing fire arrows burns through (Uses) Link's magic, so be mindful of keeping an eye on that meter.
  • Ice Arrows - Ice Arrows are a magical power-up to regular Arrows. When activated, they freeze most enemies for a few moments, giving Link the chance to close in and strike with the sword, causing a lethal (Deathly) combination!!!
  • Light Arrows - Light Arrows are critical to defeating Ganondorf, although they are also very powerful against other enemies you combat. These are magical Arrows, therefore, keep an eye on Link's Magic Meter. And make sure Link doesn't deplete his magical supply and run dry out at the worst possible moment!!

Fairy Ocarina

When Link completes the Great Deku Tree dungeon, he is given the Fairy Ocarina by Saria, one of the Kokiri people. This special instrument plays magical tones. Ocarina songs can do amazing things, like changing the day to night (and back), call Epona (Link's Horse), Wrap Link around Hyrule, move things, open secret areas, and so much more!!!!

Ocarina of Time

When the situation seems most dire, Link is given the Ocarina of Time, an even more powerful musical instrument capable of playing even more learned songs. The Ocarina of Time even has a secrest, special purpose that is unknown to Link. You Receive the Ocarina from Zelda. Play various different songs to gain access to dungeons among other things such as to move objects, wrap around Hyrule, and so much more!!!.

Bombchus

Bombchus are wind-up bombs that run along the ground (or almost any flat surface) for a few seconds before exploding. These special bombs are primarily for solving puzzles, but Link can also deploy (use) them in combat to turn back enemies as they close the distance or surprise an unware foe. These different kind of bombs, actually move once let lose. There is even a Minigame to use them in!!!

Hookshot

The Hookshot is one of Link's most useful items. this device fires a grappling hook across gasps and chasms. When it connects to a "grabbable" surface, Link rockets toward it. Some dungeons and Temples have special titles made for the Hookshot so link can Zip all around the place!! Awesome item! It can also grab things!!

Longshot

The Longshot is an upgrated Hookshot. It has Twice the range of the Longshot, allowing allowing Link to travel across greater distances. Like the Hookshot, it also works as a makeshift weapon or item collector! Use it to Grab Gold Skulltula Tokens, hearth pieces, and much more!!!

Din's Fire

Din's fire envelops Link in a wreath of fire. This flame ignites (turns on fire) torches and scorches enemies, although it does not do considerable damage. Din's Fire uses a minimal amount of Link's Magic Meter, but using it constantly can deplete the magic meter faster than expected!! So be carefull and use it wisely!!

Farore's Wind

Sometimes, Link needs to get out of a dungeon right away. Farore's Wind creates a wrap point within a dungeon (as long as it has a map!). When activated again, Link instantly zips (Travels at speed of light) to the wrap created by the magic spell. Forore's Wind uses a medium amount of energy! So be careful and use it wisely!! Warp Points can only be made in dungeons.

Naryu's Love

Nayru's Love cast a shield around Link for a limited time. While this spell is activated, Link does not take damage from enemies, although he can be knocked down or pushed of ledges. (Lava also does damage). This spell consumes a lot of Link's Magic Meter, but in a desperate situation, this can mean between failure and success! While Link is using Nary's Love, he cannot use any other kind of Magic, including Magic Arrow, or the Spin attack! So be supper careful!!

Boomerang

The Boomerang is recovered from a treasure chest inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, while Link is attempting to rescue Princess Ruto! The Boomerang is good for defeating weaker enemies from afar. Just target an enemy and them let fly with this weapon. It arcs across the room and smacks the target. Larger enemies may only be stunned by a Boomerang strike! Also, if the target is thrown and its target is an item like a Gold Skulltula Token or a Piece of Hearth, this item will bring them to you if they manage to hit!!

Lens of Truth

The Lens of Truth allows Link to see that which is unseen and that which was once false. When activated, the Lens of Truth reveals invisible entrance, traps, hidden enemies, treasure chests, and more. While it's activated, Link can explore and fight as normal, but he must be mindful of how long he used the Lens of Truth, because little, by little, thay lower Link's Magic Meter! Defeating Dead Hand in the depths of the Well beneath Kakariko Village reveals the Lens of Truth. And just in time for its use in the Shadow Temple!! Use them carefully!

Magic Beans

A pudgy salesman lazes on the bank of Zora's River, selling Magic Beans. There are only 10 beans to buy, and the price goes up each time Link buys one more. Plant these as Young Link in soft soil patches around Hyrule, and then return as an adult. When Link is an adult, these beans are growned up, and can be used to travel around places, and can lead to secret areas!!

Megaton Hammer

The Megaton Hammer is a large Hammer capable of not only smashing enemies (It does incredible Damage) but also triggering rusty old switches. The Megaton Hammer requires Two hands to be used, so Link cannot use a shield while brandishing the hammer. The hammer is also perfect for shattering giant boulders that otherwise could not be destroyed even by bombs!! Awesome!

Bottles

Bottles are extremely versatile items. These important items allow link to carry liquids, such as potions and health-replenishing Lon Lon Milk. Fish, bugs, fairies, and more can be stored in bottles! So they are very useful items. There are only 4 Bottles for Link to find in Hyrule, and collecting them wont be easy. However, doing so is well worth the effort. For example, having a bottled fairy in Link's inventory can make all the difference in a difficult boss battle.

Masks

After meeting the Happy Mask Salesman, Link is able to borrow various masks, in which he can sell to get rupees and gain access to even more masks.

Keaton Mask

This mask is available when you first talk to Happy Mask Salesman. The mask is based on the mysterious fox-like creature known as Keaton. The guard in Kakariko Village will buy it off of you for 15 Rupees.

Bunny Hood

As its name suggests, the mask resembles the upper head of a rabbit. The mask prevents Stalchildren from appearing in Hyrule Field. The Bunny Mask can be sold to the Running Man found in Hyrule Field for as much Rupees as Link can hold.

Spooky Mask

A very eerie mask that was made out of an old coffin. It is part of the Happy Mask side quest, it can be sold to the Boy in the Graveyard for 30 Rupees.

Skull Mask

The Skull Mask is one of the masks Link has to sell during the Happy Mask side quest. Wearing the Skull Mask will cause Keese to avoid Link. The Skull Kid will purchase the Skull Mask in the Lost Woods for 10 Rupees.

Zora Mask

This is a mask you can borrow from the Happy Mask Salesman, after selling all of the masks he gives you to the people of Hyrule. It is a mask in the shape of a Zora's face. It has no special powers, but can cause some funny dialogue between characters.

Goron Mask

This is a mask you can borrow from the Happy Mask Salesman, after selling all of the masks he gives you to the people of Hyrule. It is designed to look like a Goron's face. It has no special powers, but can cause some funny dialogue between characters.

Gerudo Mask

This is a mask you can borrow from the Happy Mask Salesman, after selling all of the masks he gives you to the people of Hyrule. The mask is made to make you look like a Gerudo. It has no special powers, but can cause some funny dialogue between characters.

Mask of Truth

This is a mask you can borrow from the Happy Mask Salesman, after selling all of the masks he gives you to the people of Hyrule. This mysterious mask, passed down by the Sheikah, allows the wearer to read the minds of Gossip Stones. The mask is shaped like the emblem of the Sheikah. This item is neccesary in getting the Deku Nut upgrade.

Pieces of Heart

There are 36 Pieces of Heart located around Hyrule. When collected, they add up a number of nine additional hearts to Link's life, greatly increasing his well-being and changes for victory. Me, PitGoku, charted the location for all 36 Pieces of Heart in this Wikki Page. So you can check them off as you collect them. THE X MEANS THAT IT CAN ONLY BE DONE IN THAT FORM OF LINK, IF TWO X'S THEN, ITS BOTH!

Reception

When shown at E3 2010, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D generated more excitement than any other game shown, even overshadowing the all-new The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii. At Nintendo World 2011, the game had the longest queue of all the titles present. It is also the most pre-ordered Nintendo 3DS game on Amazon for all regions since it was first announced, despite the fact that a release date had been set only a few months before the official release of the game in all regions.

Release

On 12 April, as part of Nintendo of Europe's Spring/Summer 2011 games line-up, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was given a European release date of the 17th June, and a North American release date of 19th June. In Japan this game was released on the 16th June 2011 and in Australia on June 30th 2011.

Easter Eggs

The Legend of Zelda series is often known for its Easter Eggs in the game, usually from characters from past entries in the series or sometimes even characters from other Nintendo games, most notably Super Mario, and this game is definitely no exception. Here are all the Easter Eggs founds in the game. MORE TO BE ADDED SOON

Super Ranching Bros.

Does something seem familiar about Talon and Ingo? Their design looks like Mario(Talon)and Luigi(Ingo, namely Fire Luigi.)

New Super Mario Bros Window

In the window of the courtyard where you meet young princess Zelda, if you look closely you will notice there is a New Super Mario Bros level inside. If you shot the window with the slingshot a Mario sound effect plays and a rupee appears.

The Other Window

If you shoot the other window then the one posted above in the courtyard, then a guard will come out and tell you to stop messing around and throw a bomb at you.

It's a Secret to Everybody

If you pay the guard to let you through to the Castle he will tell you to "Keep It a secret from everybody." which is very close to the Moblin's quote from the original Zelda "It's a Secret to Everybody."

Malon and Talon are Bowser Fans

If you look closely at Malon's or Talon's necklaces at Lon Lon Ranch, you can see it has Bowser's face on it.

Not Malon's and Talon's 1st Apperance

Although this is the first game Malon and Talon appear in in the Zelda series. Malon and Talon are highly based on the characters Marin and Tarin from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

The Guards Death

After receiving the Ocarina of Time, but before playing the Song of Time in the Temple of Time, Link can encounter a dying guard in Hyrule Castle Town's Back Alley. If spoken to, the guard will tell Link about Ganondorf's attack on the castle, then die. Attempting to talk to the guard again prompts Navi to tell Link, "He's not moving anymore...."

There's a Shark in the Water!

On the bottom of the diving pool inside the Lakeside Laboratory, a large shark can be seen pressing its face against the left set of iron bars. Although it never moves, it still looks very menacing.

The Pond Owners Balding Problem

It takes some practice, but if you go to the Fishing Pond and cast the fishing pole at the owners hat, you can take his hat off revealing his bald spot on his head. You can also make him mad by casting the hat in the pond, making him fine you 50 rupees and appear through the rest of the game without the hat. He also adds a new fourth rule, Do not cast at other people.

The Warp Whistle's Song

On the games Title Screen, if you listen to the music carefully, eventually you will hear a wind instrument start to play. What it first plays is actually from another game. It's the music that plays when you use a warp whistle in Super Mario Bros. 3.

Happy Mask Salesman's Masks from Majora

In the Happy Mask Shop, there are displays of Masks on the sides of the wall. If you look at them closely you will notice all these masks are from the Salesman's backpack in Majora's Mask. There's even the Mario one behind a mirror. And if you look behind the counter you can see his backpack.

Foreshadowing What Was To Come?

On the side of the tree where Link's house is, their is a drawing. It shows a person with what looks like a shield and sword(Link) fighting a giant monster(Ganon). Could this be foreshadowing the final battle between Link and Ganon?

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword References

  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Poster 1 - As a child, make your way into the Bomb-chu shop in Hyrule Castle (night-time only). Talk to the man behind the counter. If you look behind the Bomb-chus you can see a poster of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Poster 2 - As an adult, make your way to the Thieve's Hideout in Gerudo Valley. You should see two boxes against the wall. If you destroy them, you should be able to see another poster from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Poster 3 - As an adult, make your way to Lon Lon Ranch. Go in the house, and smash the pots beside the dresser. Leaning up against the dresser is another poster from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
