Japanese Gamers To Enjoy A Magnificent Pikachu 3DS XL
Vibrant yellow and featuring everyone’s favourite high-voltage rodent, this handheld is every Pokemon fan’s dream.
We all like a bit of the old Pokémon, what with its moreish collection-based gameplay and deep, surprisingly rich battle system. We also like the 3DS XL, with its lovely big screen and increased comfiness to hold.
Put those two together, and what do you have? A 3DS-exclusive new Pokémon game? Well… no. But what Nintendo of Japan are revealing is the super-exclusive Pikachu Yellow 3DS XL (or 3DS LL, as the system’s known in Japan).
Isn’t that adorable?
In a striking shade of yellow and with the Pokémon franchise mascot cheerfully peeping out at onlookers, the machine’s set to be something of an exclusive model out in Japan.
The interior is a cool white, and according to Andriasang’s information has the same accessories packed into the Pikachu-themed box as a regular 3DS XL.
This marvellous machine will be made available only via Pokémon Center outlets in Japan. As if that wasn’t exclusive enough, the Pikachu 3DS XL will also only be made available to those who preorder it. It’s truly a limited edition device!
Preorders for the Pikachu 3DS will be available from August 25th onwards to the lucky Japanese. There is, sadly, absolutely no word of the system seeing an overseas release so far, though we’ll excitedly report otherwise should any such developments be made.
It’s not the first time Pikachu has lent his cute and cuddly visage to a Nintendo console. There have been Pikachu editions of the GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance SP, even the little-known GameBoy Light. Particularly old-school gamers might remember the rather delightful Pikachu Nintendo 64, which was actually a little wider on one side to fit in a full Pikachu, whose foot functioned as one of the machine’s buttons.
The Pikachu 3DS XL releases to the lucky few preorderers on September 15th. We envy them already!
