Moto Racing Series Jumping From Mobile Devices To 3DS eShop

Rip-roaring racing escapades being revamped for eShop release!

When you’re the owner of a Nintendo 3DS, or indeed any form of videogame console, in today’s society… you’re occasionally pulled aside by industry analysts, who will proceed to waggle their fingers at you spookily while uttering, “Wooooo, smartphones! You’re all doomed!”

Having said that, some franchises that have found success on Android or iOS devices are in fact making the jump to consoles, in direct contravention to this aforementioned doom-mongering. The latest franchise to jump on the Nintendo bandwagon is Moto Racer, according to Nintendo Life.

Set to make a splash?

The Moto Racing series comprises of various vehicles taking on various forms of terrain, though the confirmed titles thus far are Aqua Moto Racing 3D and Snow Moto Racing 3D. There’s no word, as yet, if the quadbike game Dirt Moto Racing is also on developer Zordix’s agenda for the eShop.

Either way, it’s been announced that these games will get something of a visual revamp before launching on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The games have purportedly been downloaded 13 million times on smartphones, but interestingly it’s actually the lucrative 3DS market that’s encouraging a 3DS version.

Zordix CEO Matti Larson has been quoted as saying the following on the Moto Racing franchise’s chances on 3DS:

“These games are action filled, will look great in 3D and via the circle pad enable a level of control that racing games of this caliber really deserves! As the Nintendo 3DS is steaming towards 20 million units sold, the market for good downloadable games is blindingly bright.”

It’s a refreshingly new take on the constant talk of ‘smartphones eclipsing dedicated videogame machines’, as in this intance it shows that the 3DS is proving an attractive market in its own right to these very developers.

There’s no word as yet on release dates, but it’s great to see more developers so willing to line our steadily-swelling eShop shelves.

I’m actually so happy mobile devs are developing for the 3DS. It shows that our beautiful systems aren’t doomed as people say.

It’s becoming increasingly common for mobile games to see PC ports (via Steam etc.) too, so if anything the industries are showing signs of convergence.

Just as big devs flock to the mobile scene for easier profits via smaller games that cost less to make, so too do younger development studios use mobile platforms as a bedrock from which to build up and then jump over to consoles and computers. 🙂

      It’s great to see!

It looks good, Hopefully are the developments on the two games not to long…

It looks like an N64/PS1 game.
