New Details for Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns
Natsume has given us a bit more insight into the story of its latest entry in the fanatically-followed farming sim/RPG series.

For the second day in a row, Natsume has delivered a bounty of fresh information regarding an upcoming Harvest Moon game. We found out yesterday that Japan’s 2010 Harvest Moon title for the DS, Bokujō Monogatari: Futago no Mura (“Farm Story: Twin Villages”) is finally coming to North America for both DS and 3DS, but we didn’t know much else. Now we have a tad more info.
First of all, the game will be released simultaneously for the two systems in question. There is still no elaboration as to what the rationale behind this decision entails, nor is there any mention as to the ways in which the two versions will differ. Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO at Natsume, noted that he is glad Western audiences will get to experience the game. “No matter which version they pick up,” he said, “they’re sure to love the great new cast of characters, the fun festivals, and the exciting new gameplay mechanics.”
The most significant new information, though, is a synopsis of the basic story arc of the game. Rather than summarize it, I’ll just give you the full write-up straight from the press release:
Konohana and Bluebell villages were once the friendliest of neighbors. Then a huge dispute erupted between them—over FOOD! Both towns were certain that their cooking was the best in the world. This feud has transformed these happy neighbors into bitter rivals.
As a new farmer to the area, players choose which village to live in. Will it be Eastern-styled Konohana with its abundant fields of crops, or the animal-loving, European-styled Bluebell? Players will pick a home, build a thriving farm, and compete in a huge variety of festivals. If they develop their skills enough, they might even find a way to bring these two towns together once again!
So there you go. And, as mentioned before, there will be alpacas. Look for more info (not necessarily alpaca-related) in the coming months. In the meantime, let us know what you think by sounding off below in the comment thread.

“Looks can be decieving”
it may look boring, but it is so much fun >:O

Ahhhhh, I can’t wait, I hope the release wait won’t be to long.
Might get this, haven’t played a Harvest Moon game in ages.
I’ve been a fan of Harvest Moon since Mineral Town on GBA; but I can’t help feeling that newcomers to this franchise will just think; ‘oh, it’s a clone of Farmville’. Such is the plagiaristic attitude of Zynga.
Ughhh it makes me mad that people think it looks dumb. HM IS FREAKING AMAZING. IT’S LIKE, MANLIER THAN BLACK OPS. (;
