News Blip: Sliding Pads, Beastly Boxes, and a Delayed Doctor

Three blips you may have missed.

Sometimes small tidbits of news get past blogs and other video gaming sites. These “news blips” are hardly worthy of their own article, but together they’re worth a read. Here’s a few items you may have missed over the weekend.

1. Sliding Pads: For those who somehow missed it, Nintendo recently announced that they would be adding an additional slide pad peripheral to the 3DS. Nintendo has now announced that they will be naming it – drum roll – “The Slider Pad”. No surprises here, but it will be interesting to see when the slider pad hits stores in Europe and North America. The slider pad will be releasing along side Monster Hunter 3G. Which leads us to…

2. Beastly Boxes: Remember that game called Monster Hunter 3G I mentioned two sentences ago? Well, it’s set to hit on December 10th in Japan, alongside the slider pad. The sequel to the ever popular Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) for the Wii, 3G will include customized controls and loads of content not found in it’s Wii predecessor. The box art for the Japanese version was reviled yesterday and I must say, it’s amazingly epic. Take a look below. Will you pick it up when it comes to store near you? If it’s bundled with the slider pad it’ll definitely be a steal.

3. Delayed Doctor: With games like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kingdom Hearts: 3D, and Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater getting pushed back, it’s no surprise that another title has been bumped. This title happens to be Doctor Layton..ahem…I mean Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights. This 3D puzzler was set to drop in mid November, but has been pushed back…to December 6th. Not a a huge bump, but this means it will be hitting stores right after the highly anticipated Mario Kart 7. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have Mario Kart. Maybe I’ll ask for Lautrec for Christmas…

I’ve never played any of the monster hunter games. Are they really good? I mean, a lot of Japanese people obviously think so, but I’m not so sure about it.

That box art is amazing. That has to be the best box art I’ve seen……………probably ever :)

  7. Chris Pieterse says:

I must be one of the few people who thinks the box art looks ugly.To me it’s got a retro feel, which I like, but covered with 80′s vomit. It assaults my eyeballs X_x. But who cares as long as the game is badasserific.

  8. Serpent says:

Totally getting Monster Hunter 3G! And MK7 plus SML3D….Wow I’m going to have to save up some money! :P

  9. Hunthe says:

Doc is a failure. Copy of Layton? Desperate. Stupid games, I’ve read numerous reviews, and they are all around 6.5 ish

  10. J@ke says:

Heh heh, slider pad; sounds like a White Castle product. Crap, now I’m hungry

  11. Lochcelious says:

Actually the slider pad is not a required 3DS peripheral. It is only for Monster Hunter and any other game made to specifically use it. So for those that were, like me, afraid of future games requiring the slider pad, have no fear. It is only for MH. Even that, I have heard, needs not the “slider pad”.
