19/01/2011 – US and UK Release Dates Confirmed
The releases dates were finally confirmed at the Nintendo 3DS Preview Events in New York and Amsterdam. As you can see above, Nintendo have stuck to their promise from March 2010 of releasing the system before April 2011.
21/09/2010 – Release Dates to be Announced Soon
Two press conferences will be held in North America and Europe. It’s highly likely that the exact release date will be provided at these events.
29/09/2010 – Japanese Release Date Confirmed
Nintendo held a press briefing in Tokyo today announcing the Japanese release date as February 26. Sorry to everyone hoping to get a 3DS in time for Christmas. We’re expecting (but not certain of) news on European and North American release dates later this week.
18/09/2010 – Nintendo 3DS releasing weekend of November 20 rumour
The November 20 rumour has been circulating for quite a while now, and a great deal of evidence supports it. An alleged GameStop employee has stated that the 3DS is now in their database and will ship out on Monday, November 22 with pre-orders opening on September 29, indicating a release that weekend. 31/07/2010 – Nintendo 3DS by November 19, 2010 rumour
Over on Play.com, a Dragon Ball game for the 3DS has been put up for pre-order. The interesting part is that they’ve included the game’s release date in the listing, too; namely, November 11, 2010. If anything, this confirms that the 3DS will be released on that day at the very latest. The game’s not necessarily a launch title, though, and it’s certainly more than possible that the 3DS will be out before then.

29/07/2010 – Release date of the release date revealed
It’s not the 3DS’s release date itself, but Nintendo has stated that they’ll announce it on September 29th.
28/06/2010 – Oops, Nintendo Boss Made a Slip-up
According to a source close to Nintendo of Japan, it turns out that yesterday’s announcement from Reggie Fils-Aime was a mistake. So once again wedon’t know if the console will go on sale in America in 2010 or 2011.
It seems like there are some communication problems going on inside Nintendo. The company isn’t willing to confirm either of the announcements so we’re really no clearer on the release date than we were in March when the 3DS was first announced.
26/06/2010 – No 3DS till 2011 in US
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was was asked on an American chat show when the 3DS will be released. His reply was “next year”. Earlier this week Reggie also confirmed that the system would be out in all major markets this financial year, which put the exact release date between January 1 and March 31 2011.
Nintendo could be holding the release back, so that they have time to produce enough units, to meet demand while the new release hype is strong. It’s not yet clear if the “next year” statement also applies to Europe and Japan or just America.
23/06/2010 – UK Rumoured 3DS Release Date Pushed Back to December
CVG have sent in their spies.
CVG are once again claiming to have a leaked release date from Nintendo. They are now saying that their previous “insider information” about an October release has been pushed back because Nintendo won’t have it ready in time. They now think that the 3DS release will be in December and there will probably be another shortage, as there was with the Wii a few years ago. I know I’ll be pre-ordering my 3DS just to be sure.
22/06/2010 – 3DS Release Confirmed Worldwide for March 2011 at Latest
Reggie says the 3DS is just months away from worldwide release.
In an interview with industrygamers.com, Nintendo of America’s president, Reggie Fils-Aime, confirmed that the 3DS is less than a year away in all of Nintendo’s major markets. The major markets Reggie is referring to are to are presumably Japan, North America and Europe. His exact words were, “The one thing, for sure, is that we will launch in all of our major markets by March 31, 2011″.
21/04/2010 – Magazine Claims to know the Release Date
Well respected UK gaming magazine CVG claim to have been given some information from an inside source. They aren’t giving details but they say “UK industry sources” have informed them that the console is due for an October release. With this in mind Sunday 10/10/10 seems a likely date to chose.
Nintendo told CVG that the story was just “rumour and speculation”.
CVG is a fairly reliable source but the release date of 10/10/10 does seem quite early for a UK release date as all 4 previous DS consoles were released here around 3 – 5 months after the Japanese release.
24/03/2010 – Nintendo Set Vague Release Date
There is currently very little information on the release date of the 3DS. It was originally believed that the console was scheduled for a March 2011 release. Japanese newspaper Nikkei has since claimed that the 3DS will be released in the second half of 2010.
Neither of these dates have been stated as worldwide or Japan only dates. Nintendo may follow the trend from the last two years and release the new DS in Japan around November 2010, while western markets get it in the first quarter of the following year which could make both dates correct.
Possibly a leaked prototype from Nintendo.
See below for a table of previous international DS release dates and have a guess at when you think the console will come out in the UK. If you guess right before any more announcements are made (and don’t say 10/10/10), you win… erm, £1.

Oh and some good news, I think this is a bit of a slip up hehe… On Play.com an official release date of 19/11/2010 for Dragonball 3DS… So surely the console must be released on this day or before to play the game?

There may be a mail bros game because in the 3ds trailer (where reggie gets flamed by bowser) you see miyamoto and iwata being chased by bowser in what looks similar to the final bowser stage on nsmbw. This is just my idea, not a fact!

Hope it's true… Love the EuroGamer review, and Play.com aren't denying anything which is good… And they won't confirm their "source"? Sounds hopeful at least! I am still pretty convinced that we can expect it by Christmas, because let's be honest, the E3 model seems complete? And it's the easiest way for them to rack up the cash… Look at the Wii… released before chrimbo (december 8th), where they have a christmas release slot they jump for it.. And by "before march" I think this year is most likely… Look at the release dates of the past… can't find any January's or february's or march's? Nintendo seem to have a thing for april, may, august, september, november and december lol

7/2/2011 could be the release date. based on the DSi release date 3/4/2009 and 5/3/2010 for DSiXL, if you add an extra year onto it (5/3/2011), then takeaway a month what the other releases have done (5/2/2011), then add 2 days what the other releases have done, you get 7/2/2011. There may also be a follow-up to the product. The follow-up (if one) will be released between several-months to 2 years of the release of the Nintendo 3DS (maybe it willl be a Nintendo 3DSi or 3DSiXL or 3DS Lite???). Saying that my prediction probably isn’t right, because as Nintendo is currently losing alot of money, to help get them on track, they may also release it in 2010. Probably either November or December, so it has it’s fame on TV and online, because, like EVERY product, after about a month or two, it loses publicity. Same with Nintendo, then the next big thing comes out, everyone ignores the old product, so releasing by Christmas will make sure its the “latest thing”. So, therefore, more people are guaranteed to be bought it for christmas, making Nintendo more money. It all depends as if Nintendo has made enough units yet of 3DS??

Well, the games are said to be 2GB. I can't put 2 games on a 4GB card.. and I don't think there are coming R4 cards, since Nintendo is striking against all illegal flashcards.

If they are 2GB each i'm still getting a 3DS on the release date, no R4DS though just stick to a £30 game for about 6 months at a time lol, and i'll also use my legal games for the normal DS on the 3DS to see them in 2D and compare it.
The first game i will get will probably be Fifa 2010 wonder what that is like in 3D???

I don't think the 3DS will come in Japan on the 22th November and on the 19th November in Europe. Usually Nintendo releases in Japan first.

I wouldn't go on any release dates play.com says, as they tend to put release dates on to gain the orders, without actually having the stock, then they keep putting the release date back. I pre ordered Just Dance 2 with them, they gave one release date and it wasn't until almost a year later and a lot of release date changes that it actually became available! I've seen it and heard of it with a lot of other products from them, very crafty!

I don't think Nintendo want to draw attention to the 3DS until after the Christmas period so I doubt we'll get a firm release date until January or February.

Okay apparently the 3DS is £229.99 in GAME™ so if your going to get a 3DS then preorder it there with a 100% chance of getting your hands on one and get £20 off it when you buy it. You can only preorder the Nintendo 3DS by paying £20 for the preorder.
On Amazon UK, it's up for £219.99, and apparently it's up for preorder and out on March 25th. If you don't believe me, go and check on Amazon.
Also, the US price and date is confirmed. March 27th and $249.99

In Australia the 3DS will be released on March 31, as just confirmed by Nintendo Australia.
I have trouble seeing through my Right eye so don’t know if the 3D effect will work on me and there’s no Nintendo 3DS events that lets me try it out in Belfast could someone please reply to this question.

I’d go and see an optician about that. I think whatever he/she recommends is best, but it depends on if you are long-sighted, short-sighted ect. All the best.

Hey guys stop complaining about the release date. If your American it’s only fair that you get it 2 days after we get it in the U.K.Besides it could’ve been a bit longer,since the U.S.A. get everything good before us.
