Official Pokémon Magazine To Launch In The UK

Future Publishing launching a new publication, to help us be the best like no-one ever was.

It’s a big year for the Pokémon franchise, as it’s all set to make a grand debut this October on a new generation of handheld console. As gamers continue to enjoy Black and White and their numbered sequels, explorative gamers are awaiting the newest Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and gamers across the globe are eager to set off with their fresh-faced starters in X and Y.

In short, it’s not just the Year Of Luigi, as the Pokémon series has plenty up its sleeves in the months to come too. In recognition of this, Games Industry has helped reveal the plans of British-based publishers Future, who among their diverse range of magazines are known for their gaming publications across multiple formats.

Glorious!

“Man, hope that town there has a newsagent…”

Already the publishers of Official Nintendo Magazine, it seems Future now plans to branch out and specialise in the critter-catching franchise that could. The UK can apparently expect Official Pokémon Magazine to begin circulation ‘later this month’.

The magazine will apparently see 13 issues per year, with a free gift alongside each issue. Official Nintendo Magazine’s Chandra Nair will also be taking an editorial role over Official Pokémon Magazine.

Naturally, this union of Future and The Pokémon Company has the big bosses delighted across the board, with Future’s Lee Nutter claiming that the magazine will be the franchise’s ‘voice in the UK’. The Pokémon Company’s own Heather Dalgleish praised Future’s ‘extensive reach’ and expressed her ‘delight’ at the two companies joining forces.

Nothing is clarified as of yet as to what Official Pokémon Magazine will feature for its launch issue, but we’re willing to hazard a guess that ‘Pokémon’ will be involved. If they launch this magazine and it’s full of Digimon instead, for instance, some people might feel a bit misled.

All in all, an encouraging day for the Pokémon series and for print gaming publications as a whole. We wish Official Pokémon Magazine every success!

Didn’t they already do this years ago? Back when ONM was NOM, they called it POM, and I’m assuming this will be OPM…Deja Vu…
