Metallic Red 3DS Comes to Europe and North America
The Red 3DS has finally arrived. Nintendo released the new colour announcing it as ‘Metallic Red’ in Europe rather then “Flame Red” that the US received and “Flare Red” of Japan. Despite the name change, the colours are exactly the same.
The news comes as a celebration after Nintendo revealed that the 3DS has surpassed one million units sold in Europe.
The ‘Metallic Red’ 3DS model will will be priced at the same price as the older versions meaning you don’t pay any extra for being one of the first with the new look.
Red 3DS: What We Know
For some time now, we’ve known that a Red 3DS is being released. Since the Japanese got it theirs a few months ago, we’ve been waiting to get our paws on it in both the US and EU. So here is a small reminder of what we know so far.
In Japan it known as Flare Red, Flame Red in the US and Metallic Red in the EU. Whilst there are no software or design changes, Nintendo wanted to widen the variety of colours on offer to gamers. Some of their audience wanted a brighter, more punchier colour, and the Flare Red 3DS was born to bring a more vibrant gaming experience to 3DS.
The Flare Red 3DS hit shelves in the US for the new retail price of $169.99, and around £129.99 in the UK.
