Robin Williams Bets His Beard In New Zelda Commercial

Robin Williams and his daughter celebrate the release of Four Swords with some face-fuzzy fun.

HEY! LISTEN!

Sorry. Always wanted to do that. Oh, don’t get mad. Put down that blunt implement, we promise not to do it again.

As we all know, 3DS and DSi Nintendo fans alike have recently managed to get their mitts on free copies of (deep breath) The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition. And you know who likes Zelda? Robin Williams! Named his daughter after a videogame character. By that logic, do you think lots of babies born in recent years have names like Olimar or Ezio or Bayonetta or something?

Anyway, Robin and Zelda Williams have been involved heavily in Zelda game advertising in this, the 25th anniversary year of the franchise. A new video has hit the web, featuring father and daughter embroiled in some Four Swords shenanigans.

Hey. And you know how Robin Williams has a big ol’ beard now? Just wait and see…

Goodness!

Even the most hardcore of gamers have surely never bet their facial hair on the outcome of a game. Or have you? You’re not having my beard, that’s for certain. Where else am I going to keep my wayward breadcrumbs?

Still, it does sort of make sense someone called Zelda would be good at Zelda. Don’t forget, 3DS Buzz readers, Four Swords is free and ripe for the taking! If you don’t have a 3DS (or a DSi) yet, fear not. The game is set to stay available in Nintendo’s online shop until February 20th 2012. And it’s not just for Ambassadors! Anyone can get in one the quad-Linky fun!

Farewell, Robin William’s beard. We hardly knew ye.

…You think maybe it’s gone on to start a solo career?

Your humble writer, eccentric indie novelist Tony, one day blundered his way from being avid 3DS Buzz reader to avid 3DS Buzz writer. Somehow, he's come this far without being kicked off the team for consistent silliness. His fondest DS & 3DS memories are of Animal Crossing, Ace Attorney, Mario Kart and Dragon Quest.

Maybe so, but given Robin genuinely did name his daughter after Princess Zelda and is a known gamer, I think it’s safe to say these celebs, at least, are pretty genuine fans.
