Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS Powerslides Into 2013
For 3DS fans, the fastest thing alive is going to be unusually late.
Bad news, race fans! It transpires that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has taken a wrong turn on its commute to the 3DS and has presumably broken down somewhere. While the game’s receiving plenty of praise among PlayStation, Xbox and indeed Wii U gamers, the handheld delights of the 3DS version remain elusive.
We originally were led to believe that the 3DS version would skitter into our gamecard slots in just a matter of days, making for a perfect festive companion piece. Instead, Sega fansite TSSZ has extracted some data from Nintendo’s release schedule, confirming that the 3DS instalment has been shunted back to the horribly vague and distant ‘February 2013′.

Want this for Christmas? TOO BAD, SKIPPY.
It’s a bit of a blow for fans of the blue spiny rodent with attitude. While the home console variants of the game has been well-received, even if up against stiff competition in the crowded end of year videogame calendar, the 3DS version was also highly anticipated.
There’s been no statement issued regarding the game’s shift in scheduling from Sega or developers Sumo Digital. It could either be to polish the game to a delightful sheen, or it could indeed be to avoid the Christmas rush. Whilst most companies hurry to get their games out before the festive season, some publishers play a more shrewd game; if they notice the software lineup for the end of the year getting too crowded, they’ll hold things back so they don’t get lost among the madness.
Has this happened here? We’re not sure. Nonetheless, we’re hopeful a more concrete date for the 3DS game is soon forthcoming.
Are you disappointed by this news and now down a potential festive gift? Or have you been enjoying the HD console (or even PS Vita) version of the game?

I would say it’s because of the busy release schedule for Christmas. I’m snowed (no pun intended) under with games just now, and even though I’m not planning on getting Sonic’s racing game, I wouldn’t anyway because of this busy time in the gaming calendar.
I know exactly what you mean, plus I recently enjoyed a birthday in November which only adds to the crowded game schedule!
-_- if you try and get every video game as soon as it comes out people will call you a nerd and you will never get options for play, i play after the storyline and i try not to get too many games
