Top 5 3DS Games We Want To See
The announcement of the Nintendo 3DS was packed with first and third-party gaming goodness. However, this is just the beginning. Here are 5 more titles we want to see in 3D.
Strategic Mayhem – Advance Wars 3DS
Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game developed exclusively for Nintendo’s handhelds by the almighty Intelligent Systems. Battalion Wars is the home console equivalent. If you’ve never played any of the 4 games released in the UK, you owe it to yourself to do so. Advance Wars on the 3DS is an obvious choice and one we’re sure Nintendo is already considering, or in fact, developing.

War has never been so much fun
Why is it an obvious choice? The returning Dual Screens and Stylus Control of the original DS is back, along with the addition of 3D. Advance Wars never needed fancy visuals to get the job done in the past, but 3D could add a whole new dimension to it, literally. The cartoony units on the battlefield would really be pronounced with 3D, not to mention the graphical boost the 3DS offers anyway. Couple this with a more in-depth online system that the 3DS is going to offer, and it’s clear to see that Advance Wars on the 3DS is going to be one to watch out for in the future. Nintendo, Intelligent Systems, you know it makes sense.
Dracula Returns – Castlevania 3DS
Koji Igarashi has been pivotal in the development of the Castlevania series since Symphony of the Night. After seeing the 3DS for the first time he said he was very impressed with the device and wanted to experiment with it. It would be natural for his brilliant Castlevania to once again appear in some form. Its three games on DS were superb. The exploration was top notch, the bosses were epic and there were countless weapons at your disposal. Simply put, if you haven’t played them, you’re missing out. Therefore, Igarashi’s series of games are no strangers to a Nintendo handheld.

Dracula will rise again
The graphical style could be refreshed with hand-drawn visuals and multi-layered backgrounds coming together to establish a more eerie atmosphere. Castlevania was, at heart, always a single-player experience but we’d love to see the inevitable 3DS outing add new spice with a detailed co-op system. Definitely one we want to sink our fangs into.
Moustached Plumbers – New Super Mario Brothers 3DS
Miyamoto is already thinking about it. It would be more of a surprise if it didn’t happen. The latest instalment in the series was New Super Mario Brothers Wii, which wasn’t met with positive reception from all. Some people claimed the game did nothing new and was essentially a rehash of former games in the series. The 3DS could be the answer to revitalising the series in a whole new way.

There's never too much Mario
The device’s 3D used to display a 2.5D world is certainly an interesting prospect. This could also be used to dramatically change the gameplay of the series, with new levels revolving around the new 3D. Miyamoto’s creativity, along with 3D, could catapult the Mario series even further. We’ll have to wait and see about this one and it could be a long wait, as New Super Mario Brothers Wii wasn’t that long ago released. Nintendo always proves though, that the wait is worth it.
Objection Sustained – Phoenix Wright
Phoenix Wright captured us all with its excellent story, characters and the fact that Capcom had managed to make a game about court, actually fun. It has to be said that there are very few games which focus on legal processes. Capcom is hard at work on a game in the series which will “wrap up the storyline forever”, with no news on it at all, there is a high chance Capcom is developing it for the 3DS as the DS is nearing the end of its lifespan.

One deadly finger
3DS is the perfect fit for the interactive nature of Phoenix Wright. The stories have always been told with sliding artwork and hand-drawn characters in the past, with exception to the latest Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth which focused on allowing the player to walk around the environments. The 3DS could take this idea further and create fully 3D environments with 3D character models as well. Capcom would have to be careful to not lose the overwhelming personality found in the game with the transition to 3D, something for which the Sonic games have been criticised. We have no “Objection!” to a new Phoenix on 3DS.
New IPs
It would be exciting to see what original ideas are developed for the 3DS. Ideas which utilise all the 3DS’s abilities in conjunction with one another without any reliance on familiar formulas. It could be set in a vast and sprawling world which pushes 3D to the limit.

We all need Miyamoto's mind
Of course this title could be developed by Nintendo, although they don’t bring out new IPs on a regular basis. How about a game similar to Monster Hunter Tri? That proved the Wii could host an in-depth online experience. This all depends on the 3DS’s online ability. Nintendo has to up their game in online functionality one way or another and the 3DS seems like a perfect showcase. With Miyamoto recently admitting that his last real new creation was Pikmin, hopefully the creative genius has some new ideas for the little wonder. Are we asking too much? Will a game which fulfils all this ever exist on the device? Time will tell.
That’s a Wrap
To pick only 5 games that we want to see isn’t easy; there are just so many possibilities for good games on the machine. So it’s now over to you, dear reader, what 5 games would you like to see appear on the device?

Hehe, nice article, Jamie!
I've never played Advance Wars, Castlevania, or Phoenix Wright, but by the sound of it, they'd be a natural fit for the 3DS.
A new Mario game will be on the 3DS for sure. I mean, Nintendo has had Mario on every single one of their systems.
Before you started writing here, I wrote a piece about how the Super Mario World 3DS Miyamoto teased in that interview might be a whole new game rather than a remake. Further evidence (enough of it for 7000 words of writing) suggests that this new Mario game may actually turn out to be a new Yoshi's Island! Check both of those articles out. I believe we're probably referring to the exact same game…

By the way, all the images are broken; that should be fixed.
1) Super Mario galaxy 3DS
2) Call Of Duty 3DS
3) Goldeneye 007 3DS
4) Metroid Prime 3DS
5) Smas Bros Brawl 3DS
I have to agree with you Andy on Smash Bros. It's probably my favourite Nintendo series at the moment.
Also, I've got to give Advance Wars a try. It looks like my kind of game.
Man, I forgot to make a top 5 list. XD
1. Yoshi's Island 3DS
2. Super Mario Galaxy 3DS
3. The Legend of Zelda 3DS (an original Zelda game built from the ground up for the 3DS, not OoT 3D)
4. Super Smash Bros. 3DS (Who said they had to port Brawl over? What's wrong with a whole new Smash?)
5. Metroid 3DS (whether it's Prime or 2D; either one would be awesome!)

Funnily enough Andy and Adam, Smash Bros was very close to making the list! Thanks Peter. I never knew that Mario game might be a new Yoshi’s Island, exciting news indeed.
Here's my top 5 list. While I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with your list, up to and including Advance Wars 3DS, that would be terriffic, especially if they ignored Days of Ruin (the name of the most recent game over here), as that was absolutely dreadful. I did, however, want to add a few of my own, and this is NOT in order of preference, as you'll see below.
5) Blazblue 3DS from Arc System Works. A portable Blazblue on the 3DS that looked and played like the console versions? I'd so buy that in an instant.
4) Super Smash Bros. 3DS (as some wise commenter said) from Nintendo. What could possibly go wrong with a portable Smash Bros. game? Nothing, so long as the Nintendo fanservice was big, bad, and great. And the return of Dr. Mario from Super Smash Bros. Melee wouldn't hurt either.
3) Winning Post 3DS from Koei. We never got the GBA Winning Post game over here in the States (boo), and horse racing games in general have been VERY few and far between. A portable horse racing game that didn't have Barbie on it? That would be gold for me!
2) The Disney Afternoon Collection from Capcom. This would be a colllection of all the Disney Afternoon games that Capcom did for the NES, SNES, and GB (DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Darkwing Duck, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, Goof Troop, etc). You could either play the games as God intended (ie pixellated graphics with no 3D) or with new and improved graphics, colours, etc. Capcom and Disney, GET ON IT!
1) Mario Party 3DS from Nintendo/Hudson. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was just a collection of all that the console Mario Party games had to offer (the boards, minigames, et al), up to and including improved graphics on the N64 Mario Party games and the full games of every game in the series, but if they didn't include MP8 I wouldn't be too saddened.

It would Be totally AWESOME if The World Ends With You were Back on the 3DS.
anyone who has played TWEWY,Would surely kno!!!!!!
james braselton you are right there are like 80 good games i would say top 50 games
Oh!! the other one i want to see is Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 on the 3DS
Here's a random one, just because i'd like to see how it works in 3D. Mirrors Edge.
Boy, would those pristine cityscapes look fantastic coming out of the screen in glorious 3D.
@Andy Jarvis
It sure would look good, we can only hope it's made sometime!
Sorry guys here's another one. How about Monster Hunter 3DS. That would be stunning.
@Andy Jarvis
Agreed. That's the only game that makes my stomach turn when I fall a long way. It would feel even worse in 3D (in a good way).

Yes Andy, absolutely. I was kinda hinting at that in the "New IPs" section.
Portal anyone?
Portal would be cool. Good call Peter
Interesting fact. According to Play.com Goldeneye 007 is coming out on the DS so there could hope for the 3DS in the future, which we all agree would be a good thing.

Indeed it would!
I Think Super Smash Bros would be absolutely amazing on 3DS!
1) Super Smash Bros 3DS
2) A Cricket Game
3) Pga Tour
4) Super Mario World
5) 3DS Exclusive Pokemon
Elder Scrolls 3DS!
I'd like to see Red Steel on the 3DS.
@Andy Jarvis
Would be interesting to see how they tackled the control of the sword. Any ideas?
4 words: Star Wars Rogue Squadron!
Seriously, who wouldn't wan't to see a sequel to that series in 3d? It would be awesome seeing all those enemies & lasers flying right out of the screen.
i totally want one in either orange gold or red. however i wouldnt mind blue or black
In my dreamworld, I want these to be on the 3DS
- Metroid Dread
- Smash Bros
- The Crossover Capcom Fighters eg Marvel vs Capcom etc..
- F Zero
- A Pokemon Anthology
And… (Because it technically can and I love my Dreamcast
)
- Virtual ON Oratorio Tangram
- REZ
- Cosmic Smash
- Tech Romancer
Heres an idea, what ifyou aim your gun by dragging the your stylus across the bottom screen as you would with other games. But for swordplay the 3DS uses the inner camera on the hinge tracked the movements of the stylus as you swing it around as a sword.
@Jamie G.
I have an idea, see further down to one of my other posts
Advance wars 3DS would make me fall inlove, even more. :L
1.Super Mario Bros 3DS<>whole new game
2.dragonball z/gt <>adventure game like legacy goku or buu fury style
3.Pokemon<>>3ds exclusive
4.donkey kong<>3ds exclusive
5.new super mario world<>exclusive 3ds
For the Pokemon 3DS exclusive people have been saying they want, I think a game with the Pokemon Colosseum/ XD Gale of Darkness look would be amazing. Those 3D battles would look awesome. I've been waiting for another one of those games for a while now, and Battle Revolution was just battling, not an actual adventure RPG. Plus the character for Colosseum looked so badass, I'd love to see him 20 years older or something in some important role or at least a cameo. I've been thinking of this ever since I heard about the 3DS from the first leak. I could write forever about all the features I would want in that game.
Advance Wars should not only have 3D graphics, but…
3D gameplay.
I mean, battleships on top of subs, planes flying directly over land units….
For me, it's:
1. Advance Wars 3DS
2. Donkey Kong 64 3DS
3. Super Mario Galaxy 3
4. Metroid 3DS
5. Yoshi's Island 3
Those are not in order from favorite to least favorite, it's just a list. I would especially like Metroid!
I would very much like to see these five games on the 3DS:
* Yet another Super Mario Bros. (indeed, there's never too much Mario!)
* Super Smash Bros. – I don't think I need to clarify anything at all.
* A 2.5D Metroid – back to the Super Metroid feel!
* Advance Wars – like Days of Ruin or the previous ones, doesn't matter.
* Castlevania – like the DS games just not as short, they are truly amazing.
@Andy Jarvis
I agree super mario galaxy 3ds will work

@Anon
Back!! My top 5 would be…
1) super mario galaxy
2) Pheonix wright
3) Super mario Bros
4) lego harry potter years 5-7
5) Super Mario 64
hi there instead of 5 1 indavidual games what if consumers have custom 5 in 1 games like mario castualvania star wars star trek i can see futer of muti custom multi games if gaming companies would have a open communacations on multi plat from ftom multi console makers
Fatal-frame-style augmented reality game(that doesn’t require any card) that makes ghost pop out of your screen. THAT would be scary as hell.
5 lost in blue 3ds
4 pikmin 3ds
3 halo 3ds I know not likely but you can always dream
2 advanced wars 3ds it would be amazing
1 pokemon 3ds
