Warren Spector Still Excited About 3DS

The man behind Epic Mickey continues his quest to become the biggest 3DS fanboy. Apparently he checks Amazon to try and pre-order it daily.

Either Warren Spector is receiving fat paychecks for becoming the 3DS’s official spokesman, or Nintendo’s soon-to-be-released handheld is every bit the portable powerhouse he claims it to be.

it's a small world

During the Gamescom trade show, American magazine Game Informer had a discussion with the man behind the highly anticipated Epic Mickey for Nintendo Wii. Unsurprisingly, the 3DS came into the conversation, with Spector having previously sung the handheld’s praises in his personal blog. When approached about the subject again, the developer made no attempt to downplay his enthusiasm by claiming he was “even more excited” for Nintendo’s 3D device.

Besides routinely checking Amazon to see if they’re taking pre-orders yet (come on, like Nintendo wouldn’t give him one for free), Spector also commented on how he would tackle developing a game specifically made for the 3D platform… although he says he has “no idea” how to approach it.

Not having an idea is the perfect mindset, according to Spector. By taking the extra time to carefully plan his ideas, he is confident that he’ll be able to effectively utilize the hardware. He also boasts that any developer who is currently claiming to be fully grasping the 3D hardware this early on isn’t thinking hard enough. Whether that should be construed as big talk or not, the man is certainly up to the challenge.

the circle of life

While none of this is solid confirmation that Spector will be working on a game for the 3DS, it certainly seems like he will be in the future. Don’t hold your breath for Epic Mickey 3D Edition just yet though. Spector ended his 3DS gushing by saying that he would like to spend six months to a year enjoying the system. Will the time spent help him to create a 3DS masterpiece that will put everything else to shame? Either way, it sounds like he just can’t wait to play with the device.

Get in line, buddy.
